Description
Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language - This is one of five different courses we offer. The others are Grammar for Teachers:
- Teaching Children
- Teaching Business English
- Diploma in TEFL Research
The certificate consists of five units. These are sent to you by email as attachments. There is an option to receive the units in printed form for an additional fee. Along with the units we also send you readings and examples of materials. Each unit and the associated reading should take you about six hours to study.
At the end of each unit there is an assignment, usually two short essays from a choice of four. These should take from four hours upward to complete. When you begin the course you are allocated a tutor who will assess your assignments and offer you help and advice throughout the course. This is an initial training course. The standard of written work should be comparable with that on intensive TEFL courses that include teaching practice.
Assessment is based on the quality of the written assignments as determined by your tutor and our assessor. Participants are expected to show an understanding of the basic issues covered by the course and an awareness of the problems faced by language learners.
Throughout the text there are tips and anecdotes from teachers working all over the world.
