  • Description

    This program is especially designed for young students of the European Union interested in spending a time period working in Spanish hotels and restaurants and learning Spanish. Hotels and restaurants which are participating in this program are located all over Spain, mainly in the coast areas. We also have some restaurants and hotels in Madrid participating in the program.

    * Jobs Available
    Participants will be eligible for different jobs in hotels and restaurants, depending on their language skills and levels (in some cases, German and English will be highly valued), studies, experience, aptitude and length of stay. Jobs are varied: waiter waitress, porters, kitchen porters, restaurant staff, animation team for children and adults, day nursery, etc. Receptionist positions are only available for participants with a very good level of Spanish and experience.

    * Length
    Minimum length of stay suggested is 4 months; it is possible to come for 2 or 3 months during the summer. The program runs the year long, but we have many positions available from April-May until the end of September-October. We have many positions in Madrid all around the year.

  • Highlights

    * Working Hours and Time Off
    Working hours will be a minimum of 40 hours per week (may be more) and each participant will have a minimum of a day off per week, usually two days off. The student should be prepared to work 48 hours a week and either 5 or 6 day per week, during the peak season.

    * Accommodation and Board
    If a hotel provides the participant with accommodation and board during the stay, either in the hotel or in Staff houses, it will be specified in the job offer and if they charge for it, this service will be deducted from the participants wage. Sometimes accommodation and board are free of charge.

    Hotel/Restaurant work placements are located in any area of Spain (including the Islands). To participate in this program, applicants need to have an intermediate level of Spanish. If they apply to work in the animation team program, its not necessary that applicants have an intermediate level of Spanish, but they need to speak English and German. For all other positions, they need to have a sufficient level of Spanish to be able to communicate.

    Note: the participant will have to be very flexible regarding the starting date required by the hotel or restaurant.

  • Qualifications

    * Citizen of a European Union country (with a valid EU passport).
    * 18-32 years old (from 26 to 32, participants must be full time students in their home country; it is not compulsory to be a university student till the age of 26).
    * Previous experience in either the hotel business or catering (will improve the working opportunities of the student).
    * Intermediate level of Spanish is necessary especially to work in restaurants. Students working in the animation team in hotels may be accepted with a lower level of Spanish if they speak other languages.
