  • Description

This 3-month internship program in Canada combines 6 weeks of specialized language courses and 6 weeks of unpaid job placement.

Nacel International is pleased to offer a high quality and complete unpaid internship program for international students from non-English speaking countries, coming to Canada to improve their English skills and to practice it in a Canadian business environment.

We arrange quality unpaid internships, offering students both the opportunity to internationalize and to improve their English skills as part of an Academic Program. All participants spend six weeks at a College, attending an internship preparation program prior to doing an internship (six weeks). During the internship, participants attend a series of Workshops and Seminars, called Professional Development Series.

While studying Business English at a language school, we will arrange a host company for the student that will allow him/her to link classroom learning to workplace experience. The internship is a monitored work experience related to the students academic field of study or previous work experience, and meeting specific learning goals.

All participants receive certificates and references at the end of the program.

All students participating in the internship program will attend intensive Grammar, Speaking, Listening and Writing classes, as well as high level Business English and workplace preparation classes that will allow them to improve and refresh their English skills and get ready for their internships.

    Business English Course
The purpose of the Business English course is to develop the oral communication skills within functional business contexts, so that students can communicate with English speakers in both formal and informal business situations. Emphasis is placed on increasing industry specific vocabulary based on real industry case studies. Students learn to develop effective presentations, carry on negotiations, conduct business meetings and write effectively while gaining practical knowledge of North American business culture and customs.

    Cultural and Intercultural Training
Identifying cultural tendencies, communication styles, and methods that impact job performance are explored, in terms of real workplace situations interns can expect to face during their internship in a Canadian company. In addition, how different cultures communicate and how the students own culture influences communication style is examined and illustrated through experiential activities within a classroom setting.

    Intensive Interview Training
This section of the course is designed to better prepare the student for his/her internship interview with a Canadian host company, as well as provide with a strong foundation in interview skills for future interviews.
Interviews are filmed and the student is given the opportunity to receive direct, honest feedback about the specific interview style, the impression he/she creates, the effectiveness of answers to standard interview questions, and the overall professionalism.

    Soft skills Training
In today's competitive workplace environment most employees or potential employees possess similar hard skills (certifications, degrees etc.). Soft skills are often the difference in hiring. This section of the course is designed to identify areas relating to communication style, problem solving, creativity, teamwork, leadership etc. that can always benefit from some improvement.

The internship preparation course (Step UP) has been designed to reduce cultural and language errors that hinder job performance. In addition, specific training has been designed to reduce onsite training at the host company. Although English language skills will benefit greatly as a result of taking this course, the main focus is not language acquisition, but rather, Canadian workplace preparation.
