Notre Dame International High School in Paris (NDIHS), launched for the school year 2011/2012, is located near Paris, at Notre Dame Les Oiseaux, a prestigious French High School with a long history of excellence in the very competitive private high school system. We are privileged to be part of this storied history and look forward to helping our students take advantage of the best of both school systems, the French and the American one.
Our Notre Dame International High School (NIHS) is a private American High School (from grades 9 to 12) introducing an exciting opportunity to learn the French language and culture while attending an American curriculum held in English. The US High School curriculum is taught by American teachers (History, English, Mathematics, Science, Arts, and Physical Education); the special French curriculum is provided by the French sister school Notre Dame Les Oiseaux.
In Nacels vision of bringing its own brand of international education to other countries, it has developed a model high school in the United States. As part of its second and third phases of development, Nacel has established schools in Korea, China, and a sister school in Poland along with France. The NISS allows international students to complete the academic cycle while studying in various countries (USA, China, Korea, Poland and France so far) and get a recognized US High School Diploma.
Location
The Notre Dame International High School in France is located on the campus of Notre Dame Les Oiseaux, in the residential town of Verneuil sur Seine, 38 kilometres from Paris city center. Verneuil sur Seine, located on the River Seine, is a town on the countryside, offering all facilities of a residential town, the proximity of Paris, but also a rich natural environment, with parks, gardens, forest, rivers and lakes. The school is 35 minutes from Paris by public transportation. Transports have been developed between Paris city center and Verneuil, and the school itself is located 500 metres away from the train station where the students can take a train to the Paris city center (Gare St Lazare); the journey lasts about 35 minutes only with a regional train.
Education
* The Nacel International High Schools (NIHS) curriculum is based on tried-and-true American curriculum which has been developed at St Paul Preparatory School, in the USA.
* NIHS offers students an American-styled high school education in English, leading to an American High School Diploma. In addition to the American curriculum, the school offers an extensive French language and culture program.
* Courses in French language, History, Business and Management along with French and European cultural programs will be offered.
* These courses, both American and French, are administered by qualified American and French (language and culture) teachers.
* ESL Courses
For students in need of intensive language training, the school offers multiple levels of ESL (English as a second language) courses to help students transition into regular academic classes. Their goal was to provide opportunities for students to extend language learning and knowledge of another culture through a well-organized and affordable summer program. These programs bring people together enhancing cultural and linguistic awareness and to promote international friendship and harmony.
