    Rapid development of cross-border trade within the European Union determines the need for well-trained professionals with a solid international legal background. Today, in order to successfully operate an international business, commercial subjects must not only know their rights and duties under the supranational law (EU law, transnational commercial conventions, private codifications etc.) but also understand the way this law is reflected in the national legal systems and comprehends the various commercial aspects of legal environment in different countries.

    European business law is a Master's degree programme, the primary purpose of which is to broaden and deepen student's knowledge gained during the first level (Bachelor) studies. The main aims of the programme are:

    * to provide the students with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge in European business law and to acquaint them with the most recent tendencies in the area of European business;
    * to teach the students to apply their gained theoretical knowledge in practice while analysing different factual situations related to starting and developing business in the EU internal market, concluding international commercial transactions, dealing with corporate governance, competition, investment, financial, intellectual property, consumer protection, civil liability, international carriage of goods, dispute settlement and other issues;
    * to educate the students to be able to identify particular factual problems and to determine the solutions to these problems;
    * to develop the students' ability to critically analyze, summarize and evaluate the theoretical and empirical study materials, etc.

  • Highlights

    A lawyer with knowledge in European business law will easily find his/her way in:

    * private entities-as in-house counsels, attorneys, legal and risk advisors, compliance officers, business consultants, auditors etc.;
    * public sectors (as judges, notaries or their assistants, public service and governmental agencies employees etc.;
    * EU institutions, international organizations, international business/consulting firms etc.

    The semester lasts 16 weeks and examination session takes 4 weeks. Assessment of student results will normally involve assigned course work as well as an oral or written examination.
