- Helping in other activities or programs designed for school children (If any)
Most of the public and government schools in Nepal are resource poor, under staffed, and the English level of the teachers also not up to the mark. All the schools in Nepal, from public, private to boarding schools also put stress on English education. The students of private schools are better in their English standards compared to public and government run schools. Due to the very high school fees, most of the people in Nepal cannot afford private schools and they are destined to public schools where the level of English education is very poor. All the schools in Nepal have their own curriculum and volunteers teach English based on it.The children of Nepal are very keen to learn and improve their conversational English.
Most of the time, volunteers in the teaching sector work as instructors of English of school children. Teaching in Nepali schools as volunteers is very charming, fulfilling and rewarding. Teaching placements are available in both public and private boarding schools. English teaching volunteers do not necessarily be native English speakers. Fluent English speakers with or without formal teaching experience may also contribute greatly to the childrens educational development. Our teaching placements are available in various schools of Kathmandu, Chitwan, Dolakha and Pokhara. As a volunteer you will give your students career chances a boost and watching them grow during your time overseas. You will have the opportunity to gain the confidence of the students and their guardians thereby becoming like a member of the local community.
There is no need of specific qualification for teaching English volunteer in Nepal. However, volunteer interested to teach the children must have good command of English.
