  • Description

Nepal is one of the beautiful and poor countries in the world. Almost 30% people in Nepal live under poverty line. After 10 years of civil war Nepal went 20 year back in development and progress, almost 14000 thousand people were killed and thousands were displaces, kidnapped. As economy went down Income of people affected, people were unable to fulfill their basic needs so as a result lots of family and children came to Kathmandu for jobs, work, and money and for better life, it was harder for family to adopt in city life so their children run away from home and started asking money, food in street. It was easy for them to just ask money and fulfill their needs as their family couldn't provide. Also lots of children from very rural parts of Nepal had came to Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar and other big cities of Nepal due to household disputes, poverty, stepmother, ignorance and lack of family awareness. Most of the street children in Nepal are below the age of 13, they all have to live in street as they have no place to go, no work.

As there is no authorized record of how many street children's are there in Nepal. Almost more than 1500 children are in Kathmandu. They live around main area like Thamel (touristic place), New Baneshwor, Koteshwor, Gausala (near biggest temple), Ratna Park (center of kathmandu), Newroad (shopping area of nepal). They choose to live in this kind of places as there will be lot of people coming and going so they ask money or food with them.

    - Volunteers will be teaching in street children and will be interacting with children.
    - Volunteer can make their own plans for helping them,
    - Volunteers can introduce some new games and activities for children to play.
    - Volunteer can take them for visits, walks.
    - Volunteers can help them with home work and learning

  • Highlights

Most of the street children are really in poor condition; they never were proper cloths or let's say that they don't have cloths to change. It is extremely necessary to support the deprived street children who are suppressed by the family, society. It is also found that street children especially girls were involved in prostitution. They also become victim of sexual harassment, assaults. The street children beg whole day and live where they can find more money. Their numbers are increasing in tourist areas and busy areas. As the tourists help them by providing food, clothes and money. Since childhood, due to street life lack of awareness, lack of family love, support, tourist influence, bad habits and curiosity they end up using tobacco dust, cigarette, hasis, alcohol, and dendrite and had also started using drugs, injection and etc. Drugs have become major problem with street children as almost every street children smoke, uses dendrite (very strong glue). When you pass through thamel or other busy area you can see children smoking and smelling dendrite. Nepal doesn't have any rules or limit in age for smoking, drinking so they are free to smoke in the public, due to this thing they become more and more addicted to drugs, smoke and to fulfill all this kind of stuff they have to steal, rub, pick pocket, involve in criminal activities and prostitution. They should be helped, they should live as other children would live; go to school, have family to love, play and don't have to worry about money in such a small age.

As this is becoming very major problem in Nepal we started helping them by feeding, giving them clothes but this was all temporary help, their situation were not changing and were more encouraged as we, people start giving them money and food.. So Because of all those problem we decided to open a street children school where all the children would come and study, get food, clothes, books, pencils, educations. We want to do more and help them or rescue them for their miserable life.

We call all the people, boys, girls, man, women to help street children overcome their situation by our effort and your essential support, the future of the street children may be ascertained. Help us help street children for better future and better Nepal.
