We are looking for an experienced mechanical driller who can assist with training our team on all aspects of rotary drilling - including air compression hammer drilling of rock strata. We will be using a small trailer mounted rotary rig for the purposes of locating sustainable aquifer water sources to depths of 100m and in areas that may contain hard rock.
MSABI is a small young Tanzanian NGO focused on developing programmes, which are self sustaining and replicable, and provide affordable services and products that the local population require to improve their health.
To date we have developed three fully operational programmes:
* Manually drilling Boreholes & pumps
* Installing locally made pumps
* An education programme on the connection between health, water and sanitation
* MSABI also has the following programmes it is developing:
* Locally made clay pot water filters
* Non-polluting latrines
* Clay filterpots (local production of waterfilters)
* Small scale irrigation systems
* Experience with mechanical drilling.
* Ability to transfer health and safety and implement risk management strategies for our local team.
* Preference for prior training experience, though not essential.
* Fluency in Swahili and English is a requirement. Applicants from East Africa preferred.
Voluntary position - length of time up to volunteer. Accommodation provided.
