The Mountbatten Programme gave me the exposure and experience I needed to put my degree to work, and get my career on track - and I got to meet some really great people along the way. The budget and accommodation constraints can be stressful sometimes, but it's really not too tough to get past that. The staff do a great job putting it all together, and it's only getting better. This is a great opportunity, check it out.
After living and working in London for year with the Mountbatten Programme, I learned so much about myself and was able to determine the next career path I wanted to take. I had already been out of college for 5 years and this was a great opportunity for me to reassess my career goals and focus on what is most important to me. I also took advantage of being in Europe and enjoyed travelling and meeting new people from all over England and Europe. If you are looking to expand your mind and experiences, this is a great opportunity for you.
The Mountbatten Internship Programme gave me the opportunity to work for a global investment bank in London. The intense international exposure facilitated experiences which I would otherwise not have had the opportunity to partake in.
Joining Mountbatten was the best decision I could have made post-graduation. The experiences I had while living and working in London gave me a new perspective on life and became the gateway by which I am now pursuing an international career.
As an English major, the thought of an internship program never crossed my mind, nor was it suggested by any academic advisors. Luckily for me, I discovered the Mountbatten Internship Programme at the recommendation of a former participant. During my year with MIP, I found an unexpected career path in Finance and experienced all that London (and nearby Europe) had to offer. I am very thankful for that opportunity and for the future opportunities that occur as a direct result.
I can honestly say that the year I lived in London was by the far the best time of my life. It exceeded all expectations I had, and they were high to begin with. To be able to spend a year living and working with like-minded individuals who are interested in exploring different cultures, traveling, and learning about the business world, I could not have been happier with the outcome of the entire year. London offers so much without a language barrier that would have made the business education much more difficult and some of my strongest friendships impossible. The fact that I was offered a job with my sponsor company after the program ended was just icing on the cake, and I am now loving life in New York City thanks to my participation in Mountbatten. I would recommend this program to anyone who has an interest in international business, European travel, or even expanding one's social circle, including friends from around the world. I really cannot say enough great things about my experience in London, the only downside was that I had to eventually leave!
My time in London helped me gain personal insight into my professional strengths and ambitions. I believe the maturity I gained during Mountbatten, and the challenges I faced in London prepared me very well for my job search. My experience in the Mountbatten program set me apart from my peers during my job search in a down economy, and ultimately helped me to secure my current position.
One of the great things about working and studying simultaneously is that your work placement constantly provides you with opportunities for the practical application of concepts covered in class. Living in London has been the very best part of my Mountbatten experience. Anyone interested in culture will relish living in a city that is at once international and very, very English. My time at Mountbatten has enabled me to develop a deeper understanding of other cultures, and a greater awareness of my own culture.
Getting an MBA in International Business Practice while working and living internationally was an amazing experience. I learned a tremendous amount in and outside of the classroom throughout my London and Bangkok experiences. My life has been irrevocably changed for the better because of it. If given the opportunity, I would do this program again and again and again!
I am a Consular Consultant with Fragomen LLP. My role is challenging and demands a high level of professionalism and dedication. I could never manage to list all of the transferable skills that I have developed this year. I have learned how to deal with a very busy work schedule and how to prioritize the tasks that I am delegated. I have also learned how to communicate in a global corporate environment with all of the different players that have a hand in the transnational exchange of human resources. The list goes on!
