Volunteer Guide at Monteverde Butterfly Garden and Insect Exhibit

Costa Rica: Monteverde

Volunteers at the Monteverde Butterfly Garden will join us in learning about butterflies and other bugs and help us introduce visitors to the wonderful world of arthropods.

When our volunteers arrive, the first few days are spent in training and generally getting used to your new surroundings. Training is generally done by shadowing tours, asking lots of questions from the guides and reading some of the printed information we have.

The normal work day starts at 8:30am and we start by doing a little bit of cleaning and just general upkeep of the facilities. The main task for volunteer's will be to welcome visitors and guide them thru our nature center where we have many kinds of insects and aracnids. Then volunteers take visitors to our four green houses were they can enjoy different species of beautiful butterflies.

The town of Santa Elena is the closest town and is a 20-minute walk from the garden. It has: restaurants, Internet cafes, grocery stores, laundry service, banks, post office, ATM's, bars, hotels, movie rental stores, a pharmacy, and many eco-oriented visitor attractions.

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
