History

Public affairs
* The public affairs mission at Missouri State contains three components: ethical leadership, cultural competence and community engagement.
* In 2008-09, more than 1,800 students participated in service-learning courses and contributed a total of 49,066 hours to government or not-for-profit organizations.
* Each year Missouri State hosts a Public Affairs Week and the Public Affairs Conference.

Funding and research
* Missouri State receives millions of dollars of grant funded research each year. It received 196 grants in Fiscal Year 2009, generating USD 20,901,035 in additional resources for the University. 2009 was the third-consecutive year Missouri State exceeded USD 20 million in sponsored programs.
Athletics
* Missouri State competes in Division I athletics.
* Missouri State teams have made 40 NCAA championship appearances since moving to Division I in the 1982-83 season.
