    McDaniel Europe was established in 1994 as the first accredited American college program in Budapest, Hungary. This branch campus of McDaniel College (Maryland) has educated hundreds of U.S. and international undergraduate students in the liberal arts tradition. McDaniel-Budapest, in partnership with College International and International Studies, Inc. is fully accredited by the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is registered in Hungary as a foreign institution of higher education.

    The study abroad program at the McDaniel-Budapest campus is open to all U.S. undergraduate college students in one of the most exciting and beautiful cities of Europe. The program offers a wide range of credit-bearing courses appropriate for students of all majors and interests. All courses at the Budapest campus are taught in English. The most popular majors are Political Science and International Studies, Communication, Business Administration and Economics, Art History and Studio Art, and Global Studies. Study abroad students attend classes together with international students and participate in guided field trips to Hungarian and European cities (e.g., Venice, Vienna) as a regular part of the program. Internship placements can also be arranged on an individual basis. Students may study abroad at the Budapest campus for a semester or a full year program.

    McDaniel Europe in Budapest, Hungary also provides a full four-year program for international students from more than 20 countries around the world, offering an American liberal arts curriculum leading to the baccalaureate degree. The Budapest campus also offers credited courses to students enrolled in Medicine and Veterinary Science programs through its partner institution College International.

    The Budapest program consistently receives high reviews from study abroad returnees regarding on-site staff, courses, field trips and group excursions, cultural experience, opportunities to interact with international students in and out of class, and opportunity for personal travel throughout the semester. Support staff and amenities at the Budapest campus are exceptional.

  • Highlights

    Faculty:
    Courses are taught in English by distinguished British, Hungarian, and American professors (including visiting professors from the McDaniel campus). Faculty are available for consultation, and each student is assigned an academic adviser who will assist in matters of scheduling and course selection.

    The Campus:
    The McDaniel College Budapest campus is situated in a spacious, historic school building in the heart of Budapest. The facilities blend old world architecture with the demands of the modern classroom: spacious classrooms, student lounge and reading areas, a cafeteria, administrative offices, and a computer lab.

    Housing:
    Students are housed in furnished double occupancy apartments (including individual bedrooms, living room and dining area, bathroom, kitchen facilities, washing machine, Internet connection) within easy access to campus, shops, restaurants, parks.

    Student Life:
    The student body is international and multicultural, from over twenty different countries throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

    As a regular part of the program each semester, the College organizes special field trips (e.g., Prague, Venice, Vienna, Western Hungary). Students also have many opportunities to travel independently to major European cities.

    Outside the classroom, students enjoy a rich cultural and social life. The entire city becomes an extended campus. From club music to world-class museums to hiking in the Buda hills, there is always something going on and something to do on weekends. The city of Budapest and the cultural riches of Europe contribute to an exceptional learning experience.

    City of Budapest:
    Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is a metropolis of over two million people and a vibrant center of European culture. The Danube flows through the heart of the city, dividing its two principal areas: residential and historic Buda on the hilly western bank; Pest on the eastern bank, the site of governmental, commercial, and cultural institutions. Budapest is an ideal scene for international study and travel. Cinemas, theatres playing in English, cafes, festivals, sports events, and lively nightspots all at reasonable prices make the city attractive for students. The city is easily accessible by taxi, subway, bus, and foot.
