Master of Arts in Comparative European Social Studies (MACESS)

Netherlands
Share |

Location
Netherlands: Maastricht (Maestricht or Mestreech)

  • Description

This Masters programme is a truly European Social Work / Social Sciences course. It is offered by Zuyd University (The Netherlands) and London Metropolitan University (UK), in cooperation with 37 European universities. It is taught in Maastricht (The Netherlands), where the Maastricht treaty was signed and which is competing to become the European cultural capital in 2012.

You will learn about European issues in social policy, social professional practice, and research. You will be doing comparative international research. MACESS will prepare you for a career in social work practice, management, research or education. Not only through study, but also by practicing your networking, intercultural and language skills by working together with lecturers and fellow students on a daily basis.

  • Highlights

Academic staff are drawn from a network of European universities, and are international experts in their field. Your fellow students will be from up to 15 different nationalities. This is what sets MACESS apart from most other European masters courses. It is not just the course, it is the whole 'MACESS-experience' of being submerged in an international environment that matters.

Whereas a lot of MA courses will result in 45 or 60 European credits, MACESS' intensive programme will be good for 90 European credits upon completion, when you will be awarded a Master of Arts degree from London Metropolitan University.
