Description
Discover the roads and hiking trails - almost 100 acres from hilltops of coffee to valleys of lush giant ferns and bananas. Sweeping vistas of deep valleys and even a glimpse of ocean and the island of Desecheo, off the western coast of Puerto Rico.
Accommodations:
1. Cottage: At Maravilla Veg Bed and Breakfast, your Cottage accommodations will be on the upper floor, one of two pleasant and charming bedrooms with a shared bath (there is a second bath downstairs) and a large sitting room. Reserve a single room or the entire upstairs suite for a special luxurious or family vacation holiday. You will enjoy the second floor livingroom and the small balcony with a view to the northwest and a glimpse of ocean. A kitchenette area with minifridge, microwave and coffeemaker is at your convenience. Additionally, there is a television with DVD player and an eclectic movie collection. Internet satellite hookup is available for your laptop, so you can stay in touch by email (ask us!). A small library, with novels and art books as well as books about the history, plants and birds of the tropics and Puerto Rico, will also keep you entertained. On cool winter nights, the chimnea fireplace provides a toasty and romantic atmosphere.2. Cabin: You will lie in bed with the sounds of coquis and owls and awaken to birds all around you. Fern trees, bananas and other tropical fruiting and flowering plants are right in your yard. You may be able to hear some of the small waterfalls which are below the house and a winding path will lead you to them. A roofed kitchen and dining/sitting area are perfect for breakfast or any meal, with a wonderful view out to the garden and trees beyond . The two enclosed rooms are a living room with folding walls that open to the deck and a bedroom with a queen-size bed. Also, the living room couch folds out to a queen-size bed. The charming bathroom has a shower, with hot water. For nighttime lighting, there is an overhead propane lantern in the main area and plenty of florescent lanterns, candles and torches. A gas fireplace under the roof, can be lit for cool evenings or rainy weather.
3. Camping: By far the best time to camp will be in the winter months, as it is typically drier then...from Oct/Nov through March. Our prime campsite at the moment, is the hill as described above, and a second site is a clearing in the jungle at the far back of the property, very quiet, above a small waterfall.

Location
* Flying into Puerto Rico: Fly into San Juan or into Aguadilla or Ponce (closer to Maravilla). There is also a shuttle flight on CapeAir from San Juan to Mayaguez, which is only a half hour from us.
* Car Rental: Best type of car to rent is SUV or something with big tires. However, any car will do. Four by four is not necessary. Driving time to Maravilla:
From San Juan - 2 1/2 hours
From Aguadilla or Ponce - 1 1/4 hours
From Mayaguez - 1/2 hour* Publicos: Publicos are large comfortable vans which provide transportation
across the island, from town to town and points between. They will pick you up at an airport, for example and drop you off at a bus depot or shopping center, etc.* Airport Pickup: We may be able to pick you up from Aguadilla or Ponce, or even from San Juan. There will be a charge for this service. Please ask.
