Since 2005, Mandarin Rocks has been successfully hosting summer programs every year for primary school, middle school and college students coming from all over the world. This year, with our great management, your schedule will be well organized with a perfect balance of courses, sports, activities, cultural visits and trips, allowing you to have a deep insight into Chinese culture, improve Chinese rapidly and at the same time enjoy your summer vacations.
2010 China Summer Camp in Shanghai provides a genuine Chinese immersion atmosphere that guarantees quick learning success. It makes Chinese learning easier and quicker, with better results, more inspirational and incredibly fun! It gives you access to a wide array of resources that cannot be found in a traditional classroom. You will take an active part in the everyday life of the country, close to the people, immersing yourself in their culture. You'll live the life of the Chinese and learn Chinese the most natural way. Speaking, reading, and listening to native speakers every day, you will rapidly acquire a basic knowledge of Chinese or improve and perfect the knowledge you already have. Additionally, you will participate in a plethora of activities, such as city exploration, cultural workshops, sports, recreation and trips. Camp Option 1: Full Camp
The full residential program embodies the essence of our summer camp philosophy: by studying, living and practicing languages together in a total Chinese immersion environment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, students will not only improve Chinese rapidly, but also learn interpersonal skills and make friends to last a lifetime. Camp counselors stay with students all the time and take care of everything. Both airport pick-up and drop-off offered. All meals provided.
Family accompany won't be necessary.
Camp Option 2: Day Camp
In day camp program, students take morning Chinese lessons and afternoon activities on weekdays. Daily lunch is provided. Students come to school every morning from Monday to Friday and stay with their families during evenings and weekends.
Camp Option 3: Family Camp
For kids travelling with parents, we offer customized family camp than give parents the option to live with kids and to take adult Chinese course, etc.
Major program components:
* Language course
There are 20 Chinese language lessons every week, with 4 lessons every day, Monday through Friday. Each lesson is 45 minutes in length (50 minutes for 16+ age group). The maximum size of each class is limited to 10 (average 4-6) to ensure every student gets full attention from teacher and has ample time for practice. The carefully designed curriculum emphasizes conversation and communication, so that students may take full advantage of their surroundings and apply what they're learning by speaking with friends during the rest of the day. The summer camp faculty is experienced in teaching young people of various ages and implements a wide array of techniques and activities that speak to every age group and learning type.
* Activities
After morning language classes let out for the day, the afternoons are packed with a variety of activities, all designed be both age-appropriate and fun! We divide the summer camp afternoon activity program into four categories: city exploration, cultural workshops, sports and recreation. By participating in so many different types of activities, students never stop having fun!
* Tours
Every weekend students will explore a different city or interesting attraction near Shanghai with our camp counselors. These trips introduce students to the great diversity of Chinese culture and geography. In 2010, the travel destinations include two former capitals in Chinese history, Hangzhou and Suzhou, the famous ancient water town Qibao, the largest and best amusement park in China Songjiang Happy Valley and exciting Shanghai World Exposition site.
* Accommodation
Full camp students all live in safe, clean student residence or guest house with 24 security and clinic support. Accommodation is generally arranged based on gender and age. Two students of same gender and close in age stay in one standard dorm room with en-suite bathrooms. There are desk and chairs in the room and it's also equipped with TV, broadband internet access and air conditioning. Our camp counselor stays with the junior students (7-15) during evenings and weekends throughout the whole program to take care of every personal need or concern that each student may have. Single room or special accommodation could also be arranged for students or families upon request. We organize transportation between accommodation site and school daily.
