Our volunteers make a real contribution towards enriching the lives of orphans in the Sucre orphanage. The children are aged 2-16 years-old and have been abandoned. these children have been taken in off the streets in the hope of being adopted. Most children at the center have never had a "real" childhood or experienced loving, caring, or stable relationships.
Volunteers are desperately needed to organize recreational activities for the children - such as painting, drawing, dances, music and sports. Volunteers will also assist in basic daily care of the children, including cooking, feeding, and cleaning.
Your assistance contributes towards building children's confidence and skills, from which they will benefit later on in life.
This project is located in the beautiful and lively colonial city of Sucre; one of the principal cities in Bolivia.
This rewarding project includes everything you need, plus you have a great opportunity to learn and improve your Spanish!
You should be flexible to help with other tasks (depending on the necessity at the time) and willing to take initiative when needed. Volunteers are required to help in the morning or afternoon (or both).
All the volunteers need to have some knowledge of the Spanish language before starting their volunteer work. This is not only to get the most out of the project, but also to get around and integrate with the locals.
If you do not speak Spanish it is strongly recommended you take our language course prior to the start of the program. These are available for 2 or 4 weeks, and are easily combined with the project.
