Teach English in Thailand

Thailand
Share |

Location
Thailand: Chiang Rai

Program Duration
1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks

Dates
Throughout the Year

  • Description

In the Northern areas of Thailand such as Chiang Rai many of the local people have not been fortunate enough to have access to any type of formal education.

One of the main reasons is the rural, poor children hardly have a chance to speak to foreigners. Most Thai children (and most adults) are too shy to speak foreign languages and are afraid of making mistakes! All these factors contribute to a considerably poor English language level of Thai children (and Thai people) in general. As a result, those who can teach fluent English are in high demand from local schools throughout the country.

Volunteers are needed who can encourage local children, at local primary and secondary schools, to communicate in English whenever possible, and enhance their listening and speaking skills through practical lessons and fun-learning activities such as games, songs, and art activities (painting, drawing, crafting etc.).

  • Highlights

Thailand, the Land of Smiles, welcomes over 6,000,000 overseas visitors every year. Visitors who discover for themselves the genuine friendliness of the Thai people. You can experience a rich cultural heritage, glorious cuisine, and breathtaking natural beauty; temples, street markets, mountains, jungles and beaches.

MICATZ's partner NGO in Thailand requires volunteers NOW! MICATZ has a range of volunteering opportunities available in the Chiang Rai province working with local villages and hill tribes.

MICATZ has volunteer placements located in Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand. Chiang Rai is a great place to volunteer as the weather is nice and the scenery beautiful with green jungles, rice fields, waterfalls, elephants, and more. The Northern Thais (both the ethnic Thai and the various hill tribes) are some of the friendliest and most welcoming people in the world.
