The directors that I had were absolutely amazing. They were so much fun and helped my experience in Spain be the best it could possibly be. They were able to take me to different areas in Spain which I would not have been able to do if I was on my own. I was also able to learn about different monuments are different areas of Spain with LPI.
The excursions helped so much for me to experience the culture. Having other students there helped me to get to know people, and now I have tons of friends that I made through LPI.
It was a perfect combination of learning and having fun.
This program gave me the chance to realize that I am capable of success on my own and allowed me to see what life is like for people of other countries.
If it weren't for LPI, I would not have been able to have an experience like this, where I can take what I know, improve it in school, and then keep using it all day, anywhere I go.
Immersion is a great way of learning to speak Spanish, and the effort put into learning the language in Spain is reciprocated more so than in a classroom.
It's an opportunity different than anything I'd ever done before. I feel like I'm not only more aware of a different part of the world, but like I also got to know myself better and grew as an individual.
I would recommend it because I feel that I've received a pretty good overview of Spain. We didn't just stay in Santander, for example. We visited other cities and experienced other cultures-- which is important, because obviously Spain has many regions and there's no such thing as a Spanish monoculture. We also didn't just stay at hotels-- we were with host families. And of course, the university and the teachers are awesome.
The LPI staff, overall, was incredibly helpful, friendly and caring. They understand how difficult it is for students to be abroad, and are approachable and friendly at any and all moments. I'll openly admit that I've approached my directors on more than one occasion, and I can gladly say they have, at all times, been beyond friendly and helpful each and every time.
All staff was willing to help me any time I needed assistance and it was very comfortable. I never felt like I was alone in another country.
I would absolutely recommend this program to other students! I had no idea I would be doing such a fulfilling and culturally enriching program this summer. LPI has far exceeded my expectations. The university classes were challenging but interesting, and I feel like I learned so much in only four weeks. The excursions were all interesting and fun, my host family was a perfect match, all my university professors were exceptional, and Salamanca is a beautiful city! I've made friends here that I know I'll keep in touch with at home and memories that I'll never forget!
Without LPI I wouldn't have had the chance to experience nearly as much as I did on this trip. The program's organization made it possible for me to visit many different places within Spain, and through its direction I learned many life skills that otherwise would have taken years to develop.
I would recommend it because I decided to do LPI so that I could improve my Spanish, speaking and grammar. While in Malaga, in class and out of class, I was continually practicing my Spanish and it has helped me improve my Spanish a lot.
Traveling together with the LPI group really helped me connect with everyone, and made me feel comfortable being so far away from home.
I have learned so much in these past couple of weeks. I've improved my Spanish, made new friends, and experienced a culture that I could never experience at home. Spain is also beautiful and the friends you make are for life.
LPI really exceeded my expectations. They put on a terrific summer program and gave me the experience of a lifetime.
I would strongly recommend this program to others because it opens your eyes to a totally different culture and new way of living. It immerses you in to a culture that is unfamiliar to you and encourages and forces you to learn and live the way the people in Granada do. It was such an amazing experience and I think I will be taking a lot home with me. I think this experience has changed me in a good way and has encouraged me to venture more out into the world and learn all that I can!
The LPI directors spoke mainly in Spanish which increased my language skills. We also traveled to many places within and out of Granada. This broadened my sense of a different culture.
All the accommodations were nice and all the directors were extremely helpful. The program was organized and I saw lots of Spain. Also, my understanding improved significantly.
I loved my experience in Guanajuato. I learned a great deal about the language and Mexican culture, and I made many new friends. I thank LPI for making this possible.
Daily immersion was crucial. Learning another language is far easier when there is unlimited access to it every day. I really enjoyed spending time in a different environment and pushing personal boundaries so I could learn. I have made new friends, had many new experiences and learned much more about the culture and language.
I was able to find my own independence. It's a taste of college life and it makes me appreciate my last year of high school.
I would recommend this program because I thought it was great and I really enjoyed myself. My language improved, and I didn't feel like I was constantly having to work excruciatingly hard. I enjoyed living with a host family, and I have gotten really close with some of the people here. I would recommend this program because my experience, overall, was truly amazing.
LPI brought together a group of fifteen teenagers from all different parts of the country, and each one of us with a different lifestyle and a different story, but the fact that we all came with the same intention--to immerse ourselves in a brand new culture--made us feel comfortable and ready to learn. Studying abroad also made me learn a lot about myself.
I was able to improve my knowledge of the French language. I was shown a path that allowed me to explore the culture and the language on my own. The classroom helped, but the overall experience of living in France did more to help me improve my language and personal life, than a textbook would ever be able to do. My month with LPI has been the best month of my life.
My main goal for this trip was to use my Spanish as much as possible and completely immerse myself in Latin Culture. LPI put me in an amazing host family that was interested in connecting with me and sharing their culture. I was really impressed at how passionate the program was about wanting students to practice the language and not use English. Thank you LPI!
Before this trip, I had not white-water rafted, canopied through the tops of rainforest trees or watched a volcano erupt right in front of my eyes. It was a fantastic experience and an adventure that I would do again in a heartbeat.
The LPI program is amazing. I made lots of friends, and the classes at the Centro de Lenguas Modernas in Granada were terrific. My Spanish got a lot better and I loved every minute in Andalucía, especially during the Copa Mundial!
