LPI Study Abroad for College Credit in Shanghai, China
Description
One of the world's fastest growing economies, the People's Republic of China has immense cultural and geographic diversity within its borders. China’s ancient history makes it one of the world's oldest civilizations. A journey through this immense country is an unforgettable introduction to ancient history, friendly people, and many of the world’s most revered treasures.
Located on the central east coast of China, Shanghai is one of the largest cities in the world and is considered the country’s financial capital. It has been a market city as well as a world hub of trade and commerce for many years. Much of Shanghai’s success was originally due to its proximity to the coast and Asia’s largest river, the Yangtze. However, China recently re-invested in Shanghai in the early 1990s as a center for world finance, which has resulted in rapid economic growth in a short period of time. Shanghai showcased its multi-tiered success when it hosted the World Expo in 2010.
