  • Description

Volunteers are deployed on a vast range of projects, all of which require a good level of fitness and a willingness to get dirty. The work can involve house-building, building and painting classrooms, road-building and maintenance, digging the vegetable garden, making bricks, agricultural work and cleaning. Volunteers in Thailand should be aware that weather conditions can be extreme and outdoor work may be rendered impossible by the elements. In such cases, alternative assignments may include research into agricultural methods and giving presentations to villagers.

Unforeseen circumstances can mean that volunteers in Thailand could be asked to help while 'off-duty'. For example, help may be needed preparing villages for flooding following weather warnings.

While you will be supervised by our local team, it is expected that volunteers will exercise responsibility and use initiative while working on projects.

  • Highlights

    * Love Volunteers is a not-for-profit organisation that provides fun, rewarding, safe and affordable volunteering opportunities in developing countries around the world.

    * Since Love Volunteers is a not-for-profit organization, it is one of the most affordable ways to help out in a developing country while being immersed in the local culture.

    * On the day your program starts you will be picked up from Chang Rai. Here, local staff will introduce you to the team with whom you will be working, and will explain how the program works and what you can expect. You'll also have a chance to meet other volunteers in Thailand.

    * You will stay in a self-contained community in a dormitory. Longer-term volunteers experience at least one homestay in a hill tribe village. Dorms are separated by gender, with cold showers and western style toilets. Meals are provided on the five working days per week. On days off volunteers in Thailand will prepare food themselves after a trip to a supermarket on Saturday evening.
