  • Description

Working at an orphanage in Ghana is likely to be one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of your life. In orphanages and homes, volunteers assist in caring for destitute and abandoned children and orphans, some of whom have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. The care tasks include washing, assisting in cooking, bathing the children, feeding, dressing and organising activities. Volunteers in Ghana can also assist with English language teaching and other subjects. There may be building and repair work to be done at the orphanage or school, volunteers assistance with this will be greatly appreciated.

  • Highlights

    * Love Volunteers is a not-for-profit organisation that provides fun, rewarding, safe and affordable volunteering opportunities in developing countries around the world.

    * Since Love Volunteers is a not-for-profit organization, it is one of the most affordable ways to help out in a developing country while being immersed in the local culture.

    * The volunteers in Ghana are fortunate as they have the opportunity to live with a local family within close proximity of the volunteer project location. Getting to experience cultural immersion within a Ghanaian family makes one's stay in Ghana uniquely memorable. The family will be on hand to help you and also show you around the local area.

    * All newly arrived volunteers receive a full orientation to prepare them for their stay in Ghana, including an introduction to their host family and help with familiarisation within the local community..

    * The weekends allow you an opportunity to visit local attractions or perhaps take a trip out of the city to some of Ghana's beaches, the Digya National Park or the famous Lake Volta (the world's largest lake by surface area).

  • Qualifications

Volunteers in Ghana should be at least 18 year old and speak English to at least intermediate level. Younger volunteers may be accepted if accompanied by an adult. The most important thing is to have an adventurous and generous spirit.

Wow! Such a humbling and incredible journey. It really put things in perspective for me. Love Volunteers and their local partner did a great job. If you're heading to Tanzania say 'Hello' from me.
