As is the case in many developing nations, the environment often takes a backseat to the needs of people. Our jungle conservation program allows the intrepid volunteer in Peru to be immersed in the Amazon Rain Forest. Nature-lovers will be getting their hands dirty carrying out reforestation or compiling wildlife inventories - getting you thrillingly close to the native species of birds and mammals of Peru.
The two primary work areas are reforestation and wildlife inventories. Working in reforestation includes planting trees, shrubs and orchids, as well as removing non-native and invasive species of bamboo. Wildlife inventories include observing and counting various species of birds and primates.
Please note that during rainy days work may be limited and may include repairs at the lodge and/or working with the local school. Volunteers in Peru can also get involved in teaching English at the local school following their regular work.
Note: Jungle volunteers in Peru will NOT be able to take part in Spanish lessons during their time in the jungle. However, we can arrange for Spanish lessons before or after your project though, though this may include additional costs for housing.
Please note that this program has a USD 5 per day surcharge to cover the costs of equipment and materials.
* Love Volunteers is a not-for-profit organisation that provides fun, rewarding, safe and affordable volunteering opportunities in developing countries around the world.
* Since Love Volunteers is a not-for-profit organization, it is one of the most affordable ways to help out in a developing country while being immersed in the local culture.
* You will stay in either a volunteer house or with a local Peruvian family while volunteering in Cusco. The volunteer house is filled first, but you can guarantee a place with a local family by paying an additional USD 35 (Euro 25) per week. The volunteer house has many of the benefits of staying with a family, but with less rules and no curfew.
* Upon your arrival in Peru you will spend a day finding out about your host country, city and family. Our local team will tell you everything you need to know about the local customs, safety, rules and expectations and, of course, about your volunteering in Peru experience. You'll be given a walking tour of the area in and around our partner's facilities and get a chance to meet other volunteers and plan your "extra-curricular" activities while in Peru..
* You can choose to volunteer in Peru at the weekend if you want, or otherwise you can visit other cities etc in Peru. Or just relax at home or in a cafe. Long weekends can be easily arranged locally to allow trips further afield (Machu Picchu being the most popular in this part of the world).
Volunteers in Peru must be at least 18 years old at the start of the placements (unless accompanied by an adult).
Prices starting at USD 330
Includes accommodation, three meals a day, an airport pick-up (if required), orientation and 24/7 in-country support.

Wow! Such a humbling and incredible journey. It really put things in perspective for me. Love Volunteers and their local partner did a great job. If you're heading to Tanzania say 'Hello' from me.
