June session (May 21 - June 20)
The Tuscania Painting Summer Workshop will be based at the LdM campus in Tuscania and, when not on site, classes will be held here. On site classes will be held in various locations, including Tuscania, Tarquinia, Orvieto, the Bolsena Lake, and eventually Rome, all of which serve as ideal field locations for this exciting experience. The LdM Tuscania campus is Wi-Fi capable.
Workshop participants will have the unique opportunity to sketch, draw, and paint in this architecturally and historically rich region. The program will focus on the observation of the landscape, and the participants' observations in turn will be used to study color theory, line, form and proportions. Particular emphasis will be given to the interplay of light and color and their role in defining a painting's mood.
* The aim of this course is to focus on observation of the landscape as well as on the architectural and historical richness offered by Tuscania and surrounding regions while attention will be given to the creative interpretation of nature, architectural details and historical sites.
* No previous experience is required.
* Practical work, field trips, lectures, slide presentations, weekly critical review, direct participant/instructor interaction.
* US credit available

Lorenzo de' Medici is committed to helping students realize their own potential, providing a quality education that will enable them to interact successfully with the community worldwide. The School aims to excite and enable students to experience a first class educational and social environment which enlarges their minds, stimulates their talent, and emphasizes the importance of values and the pursuit of knowledge. We also seek to develop real, multi-disciplinary projects in our classes that involve as many of our departments as possible. In this way, we prepare our students to face the actual challenges of their respective fields. Students obtain truly relevant work-related experience by collaborating with colleagues both inside and outside of their specific areas of interest. Then, the results of this collaboration are presented externally for public appreciation and expert evaluation.
