Established in 1973, Lorenzo de' Medici is one of the largest and leading international schools, with centers in Florence, Rome and Tuscania. LdM Certificate Programs offer students the opportunity to develop their potential individual creativity, artistic talent and technical and professional skills in Design, Restoration and Fine Arts.
The Fine Arts program is geared toward a more specific vision of creative art, offering painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and more. The program follows the philosophy of combining technique along with creativity in specially structured courses so as to guide students through a harmonious process of learning and experiencing art. Attention is given in particular to individual relationships between professors and students, which is an extremely important factor in our Studio Art department. The course programs are clearly organized, beginning with the fundamentals and arriving at the conceptual. Each level is designed to introduce highly structured lessons in classes made up of small groups, aiming at bringing out the natural expression of each individual student. All studio classrooms have wonderful light sources and good equipment. Attention is given to art historical references, utilizing the wonderful resources here in Florence and also in Italy, as well as strong references to modern and contemporary art. Each studio course in Fine Arts seeks to draw the maximum from its students in all areas, from technical ability to perceptual awareness. Furthermore, each students individual skills are cultivated in order to best aid in developing his or her own form of creative thinking and finding the proper way to transmit this in visual form. Open studio hours provide additional opportunities for students to continue to develop projects and their own creativity outside of class. All courses (except Italian language) are conducted in English.

Lorenzo de' Medici is committed to helping students realize their own potential, providing a quality education that will enable them to interact successfully with the community worldwide. The School aims to excite and enable students to experience a first class educational and social environment which enlarges their minds, stimulates their talent, and emphasizes the importance of values and the pursuit of knowledge. We also seek to develop real, multi-disciplinary projects in our classes that involve as many of our departments as possible. In this way, we prepare our students to face the actual challenges of their respective fields. Students obtain truly relevant work-related experience by collaborating with colleagues both inside and outside of their specific areas of interest. Then, the results of this collaboration are presented externally for public appreciation and expert evaluation.
