Italy: Florence

Established in 1973, Lorenzo de' Medici is one of the largest and leading international schools, with centers in Florence, Rome and Tuscania. LdM Certificate Programs offer students the opportunity to develop their potential individual creativity, artistic talent and technical and professional skills in Design, Restoration and Fine Arts.

Fashion Design is the creative aspect of the apparel industry, but that doesn't mean there is no concept to developing a line. Knowing that the consumer is the driving force behind every market, students are taught Consumer Behavior and Trend Forecasting, as well as Quality Assurance to meet consumer needs. An overview of the industry, a solid foundation of Costume History and Textile Science are just as important. Draping, Pattern Making, Construction and Illustration are taught at two levels and will allow the student to execute a collection to be displayed during a fashion show or an exhibit at the end of the 2nd year. These events will be a collaborative and interdisciplinary effort between Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing & Merchandising students as well as students from Photography and other departments.
