Florence is clearly one of the most important cities for fashion in the world. Designers like Prada, Cavalli, Gucci, and others make their home here because of the tradition of creativity and flair for innovation the environment of Florence provides. The Fashion Program builds on a strong liberal arts tradition with a curriculum designed to keep pace with the changing needs of the fashion industry. Students develop creative, technical and business skills that position them for successful employment in design. Internships and practical work are an important part of the learning experience in the Fashion Program as is the increasing use of technology, including computer-aided design.
Why study Fashion Design at Marist-LDM?
The Fashion Program features a comprehensive curriculum leading to the baccalaureate degree of professional studies (BPS). The Fashion Design major trains students to create apparel for various markets considering creative, technical, and costing factors. Students develop skills in design, textiles, draping and flat pattern making, garment construction, and computer-aided design. In their senior year, they design and execute an apparel collection under the guidance of a professional designer, to be shown at the school's annual fashion show.
The four-year bachelor's degree program is offered by Marist College in collaboration with Lorenzo de' Medici and is designed primarily for international students and new freshman applicants in the United States. Marist College is based in New York but is able to offer this degree program on its Middestates-accredited branch campus in Florence. Upon completion of this program students will receive a bachelor's degree from Marist College. All coursework and related activities are conducted exclusively at the LDM sites in Italy. Students enrolled in the degree program have unparalleled access to all of LDM's facilities, events, festivals, and services, as well as additional services provided by Marist College, including an e-database for research. Transfer students from educational institutions worldwide and students who have completed LdM Certificate Programs are eligible to apply for direct entry to the second or third year of the program. Credit for work already completed is granted on an individual basis after evaluation by the equivalency commission of the Registrar's Office.

Lorenzo de' Medici is committed to helping students realize their own potential, providing a quality education that will enable them to interact successfully with the community worldwide. The School aims to excite and enable students to experience a first class educational and social environment which enlarges their minds, stimulates their talent, and emphasizes the importance of values and the pursuit of knowledge. We also seek to develop real, multi-disciplinary projects in our classes that involve as many of our departments as possible. In this way, we prepare our students to face the actual challenges of their respective fields. Students obtain truly relevant work-related experience by collaborating with colleagues both inside and outside of their specific areas of interest. Then, the results of this collaboration are presented externally for public appreciation and expert evaluation.

I had always heard great things about LdM but I think you just have to experience first-hand how different it is from other schools. All of the advisors and professors seem genuinely interested in ...
