Description

L'Olivette is a friendly and centrally located bed and breakfast in the historic town of Quillan on the banks of the river Aude. It is 45 minutes south of Carcassonne and 1 hour west of Perpignan, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Quillan is surrounded by spectacular countryside.

The house is situated on an old Cathare trail out of town, only a few hundred yards from the town centre with bars, restaurants, swimming pool, shops, and local market.

The area is very popular with walkers and cyclists. The tour de France cycle race comes through the town every other year before winding its way through nearby gorges, on its way up to the Pyrenees. There are also many walking routes for walkers of all capabilities.

White water rafting, fishing, climbing, horse riding and swimming are all available nearby at various locations.

You may wish to just soak up the sun, sample the cuisine and taste the local wines. Quillan has many restaurants to suit all pockets.

Location

From Carcasonne Airport: Head east on Route de Bram/D33. Take the ramp onto D6161. At the roundabout, take the 4th exit and stay on D6161. Keep right at the fork. Turn right at Route de Limoux/D118. Continue to follow D118. Go through 9 roundabouts. Turn right at Avenue de Foix/D117. Take the 2nd right onto Chemin Noir. Destination will be on the left.
