leo lingo is a fantastic company... andrea is the best boss you could ask for, and the camps were a tonne of fun.. well organised and run etc, the training was great.. all in all a fantastic experience which i'd love to do again!
It was an amazing experience to work for Andrea (boss), the whole program is great! It is very fulfilling to see how the kids improve their language skills, and it is also a lot of fun to play with the kids. Not only you get to work with kids and learn about the German culture, but you get to visit new places every week and also meet great people from all over the world. If your looking for something fun to do over the summer while getting paid for it, this is the best option and I would highly recommended! I would love to work for the organization in the future again.
I would 100% recommend being a Leo Lingo counsellor, if you are in Germany for the Summer it really is an excellent experience. I spent 7 months travelling through Europe and my favourite place was Germany! Being a counsellor was one of the highlights of my trip, not only did I meet other AWESOME people from around the world, but I got to meet Andrea (BOSS) and her family! They are some of the most amazing people you will ever meet. Not only did she make the Summer camp fun, but she also knows how to through a great party! The children you teach are all fantastic, it is a great way to learn about German culture and of course teach the children about yours!
LEOlingo is a great program to be involved with from any angle. From a traveler's perspective it is amazing because every week provides the opportunity to travel to a different city in Bavaria (the heart of Germany). Travel by trains makes it quick, easy, and comfortable. From an educator/counselor standpoint it is great because you are put in charge of a group of kids and held accountable. The framework of the class is given to you in the training week, but you have the freedom to setup the class to what you think would work best for you and your kids. From a job standpoint, you can have a better boss than Andrea. She is understanding, helpful, fun, and accomodating, but she is also professional and organized which is great. LEOlingo is a great way to spend a summer without a doubt. You are going to get to meet a lot of new people, work with a ton of great kids, travel with friends on the weekends, and have a great time. I would absolutely get involved with the organization in the future!
LEOlingo is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people from all over the world and travel around a truly amazing part of the world. I was fortunate enough to work in the team Bavarian team in the Summer of 2010, an experience that developed my skills and confidence, as well as challenging me to work outside of my comfort zone. It is a very approachable and friendly organisation that will go far beyond the call of duty to look after its employees. Great way to spend your summer!
LEOlingo is amazing! I had an absolutely fantastic summer with my fellow counselors, the kids, my host family, and with my bosses. It was such a positive experience, all around. The camps are a great way to experience Germany, and are perfect for those who seek a little adventure. Sabine is well organized and totally supportive. The training week with Frank was so much fun and great preparation for our weeks as counselors! I cannot say enough wonderful things about my LEOlingo family.
LEOLingo provided two of the most surreal, hilarious, educational, diverse and life-changing months of my life. Going into the experience with limited knowledge of the German culture, I had no idea that I would soon be able to maneuver through the sidestreets of small German villages or play baseball with German youth heckling against every strike call. Over time, you begin to learn and grow alongside (and because of) the other counselors and every experience provides a unique piece of awesome that youll carry with you long after your flight home. There are so many great things that I could say about this program but I think the most telling is simply that I have recommended it to my little sisters. If you have any questions feel free to email me at any time.
I was employed last minute after the camps had started (and so didn't have the training, which would have prepared me better). After having experience with American Summer Camps, i was expecting something similar but on a smaller scale. Wrong! What was initially a bit of a respnsibility shock, turned out to be the making of a superb experience. Responsible for a smallish group of German children for the week, we had full autonomy (with help from lots of ideas) to plan and do games, exercises, activities etc to help them practise their English in a fun environment. It's quite hard work and there's not much free time during the week but the whole setup of moving round Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to different camps and the responsibility make it a hugely rewarding experience, much more so than American Summer Camps. For all these reasons, make sure you enjoy working with children and then i'm sure you will have a similarly positive experience. Jon (Feel free to email for questions)
Best summer ever! If you love working with kids, and want a chance to not just visit but LIVE in Germany for a summer, you'll love this job. The kids there are a blast, and you'll get a taste of how the local people really live. You'll also get to meet so many cool people from all over the world with the same sort of attitude towards life as you. DO IT!!!
If you want a job where you get paid to play with children, meet interesting colleagues from all over the globe, and to travel and experience different cities in Germany--then look no further. LEOLingo was a great company to work for and great way to spend my summer. It was well organized and employees are really well taken care of. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
What an amazing summer! I had an absolutely fabulous time working for Leo Lingo: I got to see loads of different areas all around Bavaria, meet lots of lovely people, run around with kids all day - and get paid for it! Andrea, my boss, was lovely. She was really supportive and made sure we were all treated fairly. The other counsellors were really good fun and it was great working with people from all over the world. The job itself was hard work, but training week prepared us all well, and it was really good fun. I've gained so much confidence in myself and it is definitely an experience I won't ever forget - and one that I'd really like to repeat!
This was one of the best summers I've ever had! I met incredible people from all over the world, worked with crazy German kids and traveled around Bavaria! I gained a lot of experience and learned a lot about working with kids, especially those who aren't native English speakers. It was amazing that I got paid to play all day! Andrea, my boss, was fantastic! She and her family helped so much with the camps and we ALL had a great time with them! I thoroughly enjoyed working for her! I have amazing memories from my stay in Germany! If I can work at LeoLingo for Andrea again, I will FOR SURE!
Best summer ever! I had a great camp experience running around with kids alllll day long. I made new friends from all over the world, some of whom I will be working with again this summer. I loved traveling to new cities every week, I was able to visit different areas in Bavaria all while working. Living with host families was enriching, because i got totally immersed in German customs. The camps were very well organized, Andrea made sure we had everything we needed, whether it be our 'tool box', sports balls or chocolate(you never gave it all away to the kids..). My time with LeoLingo was a great learning experience, I can't wait for next summer! freedom.
I was a LEOlingo counsellor in Summer 2007. Sabine was the best and most understanding boss I have ever met or worked for, I was working with some great people and we were all trained thoroughly before the camps started so we all knew exactly what we were doing. I worked in Northern Germany at various camps - Baltic Sea, Schwerin, Hamburg - this job is ideal if you want to explore Germany. I worked with children of all ages using a mixture of games, songs, drama, arts & crafts and worksheets. The work was quite demanding but if you are an outgoing person then you will enjoy it as much as the children did!! I spent an amazing summer having lots of fun, seeing lots of Germany, meeting lots of people and what's more getting paid! I would without a doubt recommend this company!!
I worked for Sabine in Hamburg and I couldn't have asked for a better job or a better employer! Sabine really cares about all the people working for her - she was always at the other end of the phone if we needed her and did her absolute best to ensure everything ran smoothly for the participants and the counsellors. Working with the children was rewarding but also challanging and it was important to know there was always someone to support you. The set-up of the program, which allows you to travel Germany while working is amazing (I even managed to pick up a little German!). I had an awesome summer, I really enjoyed the work and made lots of friends along the way.
Working for LEOlingo last summer was a fantastic experience and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys meeting lots of people from a wide range of backgrounds, working with kids in a fun and challenging way and discovering new places. The work was hard, it's true, but very enjoyable too and I felt very lucky to be working with a great group of people, including our boss Sabine who is literally the most organised and hard working person I've ever met! And she's really lovely too- she always did her best to make sure we were happy and having a good time. I'm so glad I went to work for LEOlingo and have many many fond memories of my time in Germany.
I worked for Andrea Bär in the summer of 2007 in Bavaria and it was a wonderful and extremely rewarding experience. Andrea is a great boss and is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that everything goes smoothly every week and that the counselors themselves are comfortable in their working environment. The locations of the camps are well thought out and very accommodating for working and playing outdoors as well as indoors. When I look back at my experience from the summer of 2007 I had a wonderful time and found the job extremely rewarding and I would do it again in a heart beat! - Scott Murray Former LEOlingo English Counselor in Bavaria
Hi I worked for LEOlingo over the summer of 2007 and had quite possibly the best summer of my life. the work was fairly hard going but very rewarding and most importantly enjoyable. the camps are in great locations and a lot of fun, i mean i got to go on a high ropes course with some really cool kids and i got paid for it! not to mention weekends off to explore which ever town i happened to be workin in. all in all people if your ambition is to teach abroad i could not think of a better way to start out. the only downside is, you have to go home in september, unless you can convince Andrea (the boss) to let you live with her! good look with the application and i hope to see you next summer as i am definitely going back.
Working in Germany for Leolingo was honestly a truly positive experience that I will never forget. I generally taught English to a different group of children each week with ages ranging from 7 to 16 using English games, songs and sports as learning stimuli. The work is fun and usually in idyllic locations. That is not to say that you are not expected to work hard and be dedicated to caring for these children. But I would definitely call this an ideal job for a student in their summer holidays, especially if you wish to learn a little German on location. In particular, I would like to focus on the fact that I was always not only satisfied with how the bosses of this company treated me, I felt like they were my friends and people I could always come to with a problem. For any of you who have done this kind of work before, you will know what I am talking about when I see that you need to be able to count on your boss. For this job the only really important quality you should have is enthusiasm. This enthusiasm infects the children always and ensures that they will have a good time, and consequently you will too.
Being part of the Leolingo camps has been one of the most amazing experiences for me. Andrea Baer (boss) was very organized and detailed in making sure we were informed and ready for the summer experience long before our arrival. She made us all feel at home and welcomed. From the first week of training to our farewell, the excitement continued. Some councilors get the opportunity to stay with host families while working the camps, and you get to experience the German culture in true Bavarian form. Working with the children is so much fun! It allows you to be a kid again yourself. You just have to remember not to take yourself so serious. The kids love when you are silly and fun, it helps them open up as well an enjoy their educaional camp experience. Councelors come from all around the world, they are freindships that will grow and continue after camp is over. I'm so glad that I was part of Leolingo for a summer and I look forward to participating again. Ps Be on time ALWAYS! Germans take punctuality very seriously, if not you may miss a bus or train to your destination, lol
What an awesome summer!! I had a fantastic time working as a camp counsellor in Germany and would certainly recommend this job to anyone who enjoys travelling and working with kids. I met some truly amazing people from all around the world and had a blast working with the kids...singing songs, playing lots of games and sport (cricket of course!), doing arts and crafts and lots more! So rewarding and a lot of fun!
