This is an opportunity to learning outside of the classroom and into the real world. Get involved in community service programs while exploring Medellin - one of most beautiful and cozy cities in Colombia. Experience living in a different country, while learning a new culture, language, and at the same time take your volunteer and humanitarian wishes to meaningfully contribute to its society and environment.
Lead Adventures offers you the chance of being more than a tourist in Medellin, by offering you Spanish Classes combine with social volunteer work with the poorest children. At the same time you can combine your help with several different excursions into the city surroundings, giving you 3 different components of a responsible trip, learn, help and travel.
Customize your trip! These are a few examples of the places you can visit:
* Santafe de Antioquia & Puente de Occidente
Going through the longest tunnel within the Americas and the new road that follows it has shortened the distance to the Occidente Antioqueño and all of its attractions including its highlight, the municipality of Santafe de Antioquia. We invite you to travel back in time with a stroll through the cobblestoned streets of this charming colonial town founded in 1541 and to the amazing Puente de Occidente hanging bridge. A short yet refreshing waterfall trek is included after visiting the Puente de Occidente.
* Guatape (Rock & Dam)
As we drive to the Municipality of Guatape we will get to see gorgeous plantations and the towns of Marinilla and El Peñol. The latter is the new Peñol as the original was flooded and transferred to the new location with the construction of the Peñol - Guatape Dam during the mid seventies. While in the area, you'll have the chance of climbing the 640+ steps to the top of the 220 mt high rock (at your discretion). Most probably you'll never get to see a rock that big again. There is an optional 1 hour boat ride on Guatape Dam to the Old Peñol Museum plus you'll have the chance to get a glimpse at the houses of famous & infamous Colombian personalities. A 984 ft. canopy zip line adventure is also optional right from the waterfront.
* Vuelta a Oriente (East Circuit)
Also called the Green Route, it's a traditional touristic circuit not far from Medellin with various municipalities to enjoy, beautiful natural landscape and unmatched gastronomy. Our trip focuses on El Retiro, San Antonio, Rionegro (Tutucan) and El Carmen and plenty of splendid scenery along the way. As we drive along the Fe Hydroelectric Dam and surroundings, you'll understand why Antioquia produces one third of the energy that the entire country consumes.
* Jardin
Jardin is the southwesternmost and farthest away pueblo of Antioquia's Coffee Region. Go figure but no worries! LandVenture Travel can take you there plus you will most certainly love the magnificent scenery along the way.
