Scholarships are Available
King’s Study Abroad Excellence Scholarships are presented each semester to our most distinguished Study Abroad students in the Faculties of Arts & Humanities (A&H), Social Science & Public Policy (SSPP) and Natural and Mathematical Sciences (NMS). Scholarships are made to candidates of outstanding quality who demonstrate in their application how their time at King’s builds on their academic record, and how it will help fulfil both their personal and academic ambitions.
Students must have been accepted on to the Study Abroad programme at King’s as independent (fee-paying) students, for at least one semester and have applied for courses equivalent to at least three quarters of their total credit value from the Faculties of A&H, SSPP or NMS.
Criteria for selection:
Students will be selected on the basis of their overall academic performance to date and their performance in the subjects relevant to their application (up to four subjects can be selected by the student on the application form). Equally important however is the students’ case for receiving a scholarship. Each applicant must submit a personal statement, in which they reflect on how their study at King’s relates to their personal and academic development to date, and how they will be able to benefit from it in the future. In addition to this, students will also be assessed on the submission of three themed 'mini blogs' and their creative writing skills.
It is important to note that the scholarships are not made purely on the basis of high academic grades or GPA; the selection panel gives equal weighting to the personal statement and blog posts.
Conditions of scholarship:
In accepting the scholarship, successful candidates will be expected to complete 4 blog entries of 500 words each with a minimum of 4 high quality photographs per 'blog post' to be featured on our website. Each blog post will have a particular theme attached to it and all will discuss your experience studying abroad at King’s College London, studying within your chosen Faculty and your experiences of living in London and the UK in general. Successful candidates will be provided with each blog post’s theme and submission deadlines.
Each Faculty commits £5,000 to the Excellence Scholarships per year, which means £7,500 is available to successful candidates each semester.
