  • Description

    For School:
    * Being an assistant to the teachers
    * Organize after-school sports activities
    * Organize sports competition between local schools
    * Organize an after school homework help/tutorship
    * Organize field trips to educational sites within the city
    * Help to organize assemblies (parents, health education, report cards)

    For Orphanage:
    * Act as an on-site advisor to the children
    * Give advice on hygiene, school attendance, good conduct, etc
    * Assist in budgeting and distributing funds
    * Act as mentor for children, taking them on outings
    * Assist in shopping for supplies

  • Highlights

    * Will gain experience working towards community development and get a cross- cultural feel
    * Will have the opportunity to sight see around the city and nearby cities when taking children on field trips or mentor outings

  • Qualifications

    * Must have completed high school, post secondary education in a related field an asset
    * Must have at least 2 years experience working with children
    * Organized, open minded and likes to work with children
    * Experience in proposal writing, or budgeting
    * Has some knowledge and background information of Ethiopia
    * Proven ability to lead multiple task-oriented teams

    Money will go towards:

    * Your food (3 meals a day) and accommodations for duration of stay
    * Your pickup from closest airport
    * Orientation session- (pre and post) including basic learning of the language, tour of the site and surrounding village, and a breakdown of customs, laws, norms, etiquette and lifestyle
    * Support projects of the school and orphanage
    * Field trips and mentor outing transportation costs
    * Staff support
