In many African countries such as Kenya, HIV/Aids is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people each and every year. In an effort to combat this deadly disease, many hospitals and local NGOS are presently running HIV/AIDS testing and counseling centers, and an awareness campaign in Kenya referred to as (V.C.T) Voluntary Counseling and Testing Centers with the slogan initiated by our president "Pamoja Tuangamize Ukimwi" (Together Let Us Fight HIV/AIDS).
Our HIV/AIDS volunteer program is aimed at giving care and support to the HIV-infected and also creating awareness to vulnerable groups about the dangers of HIV/Aids through HIV/Aids outreach programs. These Outreach programs are generally done through schools and community groups while work consists of; visiting patients in their homes "home-based care", helping with medical care and food, conducting lessons to educate people on the dangers of HIV and how to prevent themselves from getting infected. Our program is organized in collaboration with Government institutions, V.C.Ts NGOs, and community-based organization CBOs who are working very closely with the communities and HIV/Aids patients.
Healthcare is neither easily accessible nor affordable for many Kenyans living in the rural villages and poor urban areas. Poverty creates a large barrier to the acquisition of healthcare in general, but in rural areas in particular. Our volunteers work in a number of medical clinics/centers V.C.T and hospitals in urban and suburban areas. These dispensaries and hospitals have very basic equipment and facilities. Volunteers are placed in a hospital or dispensary based on previous medical training and experience. The key requirements in a medical volunteer (aside from the relevant training and qualifications) are initiative, enthusiasm, and readiness to work in unfamiliar circumstances - a surgery with minimal equipment, an understaffed hospital, or a clinic for leprosy or tuberculosis patients. Note: For the Medical Placement, volunteers need to be training or qualified in relevant medical fields. Therefore, volunteers are required to present a copy of their qualifications and certificates to our program partner on arrival in Kenya.
HIV AIDS Orphans are deprived of many opportunities necessary for their development. Volunteers can help them fill this void in their lives by assisting the staff in the orphanage in organizing educational tours, playing indoor and outdoor games, teaching them English, giving them basic computer knowledge and educate the young kids in a play way method. Volunteers can give tips to the kids about personal hygiene and help them in keeping their premises spic and span. They also help the children with their homework and prepare them for school.

Kenya Youth Hostel Association is a non-profit organization, which promotes youth hostelling in Kenya and gives the opportunity to Kenyan young people to travel abroad, because the membership card of international hostelling is valid worldwide. So if you have this card, you are accepted in all of those seventy countries and all of those youth hostels without any differences. We would like to see more Kenyan people travel around and use the infrastructure, because all countries are very well covered by youth hostels. Our main task is to promote youth traveling as something which is not only for people who have a lot of money. We are here to help people to travel more easily, quickly, safely and to find people of their age around. We are promoting traveling with no differences between races, nationalities, without any kind of discrimination.
