The KIIS summer program in East Slavic Europe program is based in the city of L'viv (Ukraine). Despite numerous wars and invasions, this thousand-year-old urban center has preserved its architectural and cultural heritage. To fully experience the wonders of this enchanting place, the classes are designed to make use of local museums, cafes, churches, universities and national institutions. Students participate in a variety of activities, ranging from taking part in an international student conference to making traditional Ukrainian folk Easter eggs. In past years, the program has taken students to the untamed wilderness of the Carpathian Mountains, palace ruins, and smaller towns & villages.
After three weeks in Ukraine, the program concludes with an optional week in Poland, where students explore the Medieval City of Krakow, the Nazi Death Camps at Auschwitz and the modern capital of Warsaw.
Euro Cup Soccer games will be held in Lviv and Warsaw for Summer 2012!

The Kentucky Institute for International Studies is a consortium of colleges and universities dedicated to providing quality international education. KIIS is founded on the conviction that an international experience should be part of the education of as many people as possible. KIIS programs have four primary objectives: (1) to establish high-quality, low-cost, academically sound international study programs for students; (2) to provide faculty from member institutions a means for professional growth; (3) to create language and culture programs for professionals and develop links with their counterparts in foreign countries; and (4) to promote the study of foreign languages. KIIS also seeks to develop new opportunities for international experiences which meet the needs of students, faculty, academic institutions, and community organizations, always taking into consideration the changing times and shifting demands of a global society.
