Students are within walking distance of the most famous museums and sites in Italys Renaissance capital the Uffizi galleries, the Bargello, Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti, and many others. The train and bus stations are also nearby, making day or weekend excursions to cities like Siena, Lucca, Pisa, Arezzo, Cortona, and San Gimignano a breeze. Students are always encouraged to share their Tuscan discoveries and experiences with the group.

The program then moves to Rome for the final week. During their time in one of the worlds great cities, students have the opportunity to observe firsthand the diverse and nuanced layers of Italian cultural and artistic history. One stroll through this cosmopolitan capital and students will marvel at the breathtaking display of Classical, Renaissance, Baroque and Modern art and architecture. The Roman Forum and Colosseum, the Catacombs and the Vatican, Michelangelo and Caravaggio, Trevi Fountain and Piazza di Spagna& Rome indulges all your senses.

  • Highlights

The initial exposure to Rome will give students the opportunity to observe firsthand the diverse layers of Italy's cultural and artistic history-from the Etruscan, to the classical, through to the Renaissance and modern times. This first encounter with Rome's multi-faceted treasures brings to light the significance of classical art as a source of inspiration for Renaissance and later artists.

In Florence, students will have the opportunity to visit the most famous museums and sites in Italy's Renaissance capital-the Uffizi gallery, the Bargello, Dante's house, Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti and many others. Further, the proximity of the train and bus stations to the center of town renders day or weekend excursions to cities like Siena, Lucca, Pisa, Arezzo, Cortona and San Gimignano very accessible.
