Germany: Regensburg
Term
Spring
During the Springsemester, the Kentucky Institute for International Studies will offer a five-month program in Regensburg, Germany. Regensburg is located in the eastern part of the state of Bavaria, 1/2 hours north of Munich. With its two thousand years of history, and almost completely undestroyed city core, it offers a great variety of sites and places of interest.
The program is designed for intermediate- and upper-level German language students and requires that students have at least two years of college-level German or the equivalent. The intention of the program is to allow students the ability to experience German culture and not just observe it from the outside. Regensburg is the ideal setting for such a program--it combines the advantages of a larger city with the comfort, familiarity, and charm of a rural area.

The Kentucky Institute for International Studies is a consortium of colleges and universities dedicated to providing quality international education. KIIS is founded on the conviction that an international experience should be part of the education of as many people as possible. KIIS programs have four primary objectives: (1) to establish high-quality, low-cost, academically sound international study programs for students; (2) to provide faculty from member institutions a means for professional growth; (3) to create language and culture programs for professionals and develop links with their counterparts in foreign countries; and (4) to promote the study of foreign languages. KIIS also seeks to develop new opportunities for international experiences which meet the needs of students, faculty, academic institutions, and community organizations, always taking into consideration the changing times and shifting demands of a global society.
