The KIIS Bregenz Environmental Program has two main components. The first is a virtual class that will prepare students to maximize their experience abroad. The second will be on-site in Bregenz. The program has been developed for teachers, educators, and persons interested in comparing the environment in which they live with Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The program offers courses in graduate level environmental education that are designed to take advantage of the environmental, geographical, historical, cultural, educational, business, and industrial opportunities in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. Students must register for credit.
Bregenz, a medium-sized town, provides the home base for the program because of its strategic location between Germany and Switzerland. Excursions provide participants with active, hands-on experiences to assist in assessment and comparisons of environmental education. While in Bregenz, the Institute sponsors numerous opportunities to visit important natural, cultural, and historical sites in the region. Credit is awarded by Murray State University and is automatically be transferred to each participant's home institution.

The Kentucky Institute for International Studies is a consortium of colleges and universities dedicated to providing quality international education. KIIS is founded on the conviction that an international experience should be part of the education of as many people as possible. KIIS programs have four primary objectives: (1) to establish high-quality, low-cost, academically sound international study programs for students; (2) to provide faculty from member institutions a means for professional growth; (3) to create language and culture programs for professionals and develop links with their counterparts in foreign countries; and (4) to promote the study of foreign languages. KIIS also seeks to develop new opportunities for international experiences which meet the needs of students, faculty, academic institutions, and community organizations, always taking into consideration the changing times and shifting demands of a global society.
