    Lithuania is a welcoming country with a great history, deeply held traditions and a beautiful landscape right in the centre of Europe, on the eastern Baltic Sea coastline. Kaunas, the second-largest city in Lithuania, is also home to more than 50,000 students and so has earned its reputation for being the heart of educational life in Lithuania. The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LUHS) was established here to accommodate a merger between Kaunas University of Medicine and the Veterinary Academy.

    The universitys roots in medical studies go back to the 1920s and today the university is the largest institution providing university degrees, training and research in biomedical sciences in Lithuania.

    The university community is made up of more than 1,000 academic staff members and 6,200 students, with over 400 full-time international undergraduate students from across 36 countries.

    LUHS is an actively international institution. Its study programmes meet the directives set by the European Union and it collaborates with European, American and Asian universities and international organisations in research and academic activities.

    Many international students are also keen to study in Kaunas the attraction being the University's openness and its high quality of study. LUHS offers five programmes to international students, four of them being integrated studies that lead to a masters degree in medicine, veterinary medicine, odontology or pharmacy.

    The fifth programme is a postgraduate degree in public health. The university library collaborates with 27 libraries from Norway, Denmark, Germany, the US, Lebanon, Latvia and across Lithuania, meeting the needs of every member of the university community. Similarly, Kaunas International Medical Students Union (KIMSU) offers the perfect environment for all international students with ideas and the drive to mix with others of like mind, and who wish to collaborate on projects that will benefit others. There is also the LUHS sports club, Medikas, which encourages the university community to attend basketball, athletics, orientation sports, swimming, tennis, table tennis, aerobics or football classes.

    MSc in Public Health (MPH)
    Because of our experience in public health education and common historical development with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Baltic sea region, we feel that our participants in MPH training program will meet the real needs of public health professionals, which are working in environment of health care reforms.
    MPH studies take 2 years. Master thesis are prepared and defended by the student in the final stage of training. Qualification awarded - Health Care Manager.
