Yogyakarta Nature Conservation Foundation (YKAY) is a nonprofit foundation for nature conservation, rescuing wild animals and conservation education. Now, YKAY manage 13,9 hectare wide conservation land in Paingan, Sendangsari Village, Pengasih District, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Province, Indonesia. Its known as Jogjakarta Animal Rescue Centre (PPSJ) in the pass time.
YKAY programs are mainly animal rescues, rehabilitation and sanctuary for wild animals that take from wild animals protected laws enforcement by the Ministry of Forestry Republic of Indonesia. The goal of the program is to release wild animals to the wild. For wild animals that cant be released to the wild for some reasons they couldnt survive in the wild, will be placed in the sanctuary.
Activities in the centre at Wild Animals Management Division start at 7 am until 3 pm. The activities include:
- Cleaning the enclosures
- Providing animals foods
- Providing animals enrichment
- Animal behavior observation
- Working on fodder garden and making compost.
- Involve in Conservation education program
- Just fill out the Volunteer form
- You should be free from HIV-AIDS, tuberculosis, Hepatitis A,B and C, and also free from herpes. Please provide a medical letter.
