When you think of Harlem USA, what comes to mind? Chances are it’s not the safe, hip, and fun place Harlem is today. Our hostel is located in the epicenter of the neighborhood - but still 10 minutes from Times Square! - surrounded by world-famous landmarks including the legendary Apollo Theater, Sylvia’s soul food restaurant, and many gospel churches.

We are proud that Jazz on Lenox Hostel also embodies the soulful vibe of the neighborhood in its classic Victorian-style brownstone where we kept a lot of the original detail and charm. On top of that, we’ve added a guest kitchen, TV/Internet lounge, new ensuite dorms and private rooms, as well as a huge backyard that is the perfect venue for impromptu BBQs and jazz performances.

* From John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport:
Take the AirTrain from JFK to the 'A' subway line. Take the ‘A’ going towards Uptown/Manhattan. At Fulton Street/Broadway Nassau (first stop in Manhattan), transfer to the ‘2’ or ‘3’ subway going Uptown. Exit at 125th Street and walk NORTH to 128th Street. Turn LEFT and cross Lenox Avenue. You will see the hostel on the left.

* From La Guardia (LGA) Airport:
Take the M60 bus to 125th Street and Fifth Avenue. Walk NORTH to 128th Street. Turn LEFT onto 128th Street. Walk 1 block and cross Lenox Avenue. You will see the hostel on the left.

* From Newark (EWR) Airport:
Take AirTrain to Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station (NLIAT). At NLIAT, take a NJ TRANSIT or Amtrak train to New York Penn Station. At Penn Station take the ‘2’ or ‘3’ subway going Uptown. Exit at 125th Street and walk NORTH to 128th Street. Turn LEFT and cross Lenox Avenue. You will see the hostel on the left.

* From Port Authority (Greyhound) Station:
Exit the bus terminal and walk EAST on 42nd Street towards 7th Avenue/Broadway. Enter the subway station at 7th Avenue and take the ‘2’ or ‘3’ subway going Uptown. Exit at 125th Street and walk NORTH to 128th Street. Turn LEFT and cross Lenox Avenue. You will see the hostel on the left.

* From Newark (EWR) Airport:
Take the AirTrain to Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station (NLIAT). At NLIAT, take a NJ TRANSIT or Amtrak train to New York Penn Station. Take the ‘C’ or ‘E’ train going Downtown. Take the subway 1 stop to 23rd Street and exit. Then, either 1) Take the M23 Bus from W23rd / 8th Avenue heading WEST along 23rd Street to Chelsea Piers. Exit at the last station and walk NORTH on 11th Avenue. Right after the corner of 23rd street and 11th Avenue, you will see the hostel entrance on your RIGHT. OR 2) Walk 3 avenue blocks WEST (to 9th, 10th, and 11th Avenues). Turn RIGHT onto 11th Avenue and you will see the hostel entrance immediately on your right.

* From Port Authority (Greyhound) Station:
Follow signs for the ‘C’ or ‘E’ subway going Downtown. Take the subway 2 station to 23rd Street. Exit at 23rd Street at the intersection of 23rd and 8th Avenue. Then, either 1) Take the M23 Bus from W23rd / 8th Avenue heading WEST along 23rd Street to Chelsea Piers. Exit at the last station and walk NORTH on 11th Avenue. Right after the corner of 23rd street and 11th Avenue, you will see the hostel entrance on your RIGHT. OR 2) Walk 3 avenue blocks WEST (to 9th, 10th, and 11th Avenues). Turn RIGHT onto 11th Avenue and you will see the hostel entrance immediately on your right.
