I purely and thoroughly enjoyed the (ITTP) experience as a whole package. I am so pleased with my choice, with my decision to come to Prague and with the overall result which has probably given me more confidence than I hoped for. My ability to teach English probably jumped from zero-level to pretty solid base level which is the best start for a teaching career in my opinion.
This course has provided me with the opportunity to learn at my own pace from any location. Even before completion, I was able to begin working as an English teacher in Spain with the skills learned. I have been thrilled with the service given and the generally rapid teacher response to questions and concerns. Through my experience so far, the skills gained from this program have been invaluable in day-to-day teaching life, from grammar instruction techniques to classroom management. I definitely recommend this program to any individual that might be interested.
I took the ITTP course in September '05 and spent the next year teaching English at a private Catholic elementary school in Si Racha, Thailand. I found the TEFL course to be an engaging refresher of English grammar, an informative outline of teaching theory, and a valuable introduction into the world of teaching. The course gives students an understanding of the role and duties of a teacher and the teaching opportunities to practice and increase these skills. While applying for teaching jobs, I found my TEFL/TESOL certificate to be essential in gaining employment at reputable educational institutions.
The course did stretch me and I learnt a lot from it. One of the big advantages was to be able to do it at my own pace. I also ended up getting the certificate which was a BIG plus in getting my position at one of the local Gymnazium's in Olomouc. The course also helped me to get material together which I could refer to later on. I'm in a great job. I love it! I'm working on a more conversational level as opposed to being a more traditional teacher, but it suits my gifts and abilities.
I found my time at ITTP to be a very enjoyable and educational experience. It was a lot of hard work and I was busy 24-7, but Im so happy for all of the experience I got teaching and planning lessons. Id definitely recommend it to anyone interested in teaching English. The instructors are great! I loved our little group too.
I definitely recommend ITTP. I teach at an English Language School in Amagasaki, Japan (next to Osaka). The ages range from baby to adult, but usually I teach in the 2-15 year old range. I'm particularly fond of using communicative and activity ideas I learnt doing my TEFL/TESOL certificate for the high-school kids. And we actually use the same books for our adult classes, so I've even had the opportunity to use lesson plans that I created whilst doing the certificate!
By doing ITTP online, I was able to prepare myself for teaching English as a second language at my own convenience. Not only was I prepared to teach when I arrived in Prague, I got a great job immediately! I like the language school I work for, and my experience here teaching would not be possible if it weren't for ITTP.
After completing my TEFL/TESOL I worked for ISIS education at Lincoln University teaching Italian students. I then went back out to Thailand and started working at an International school, unfortunately the school closed down and I returned to the U.K. I'm currently working as a one to one tutor and TA within a SEN department and thanks to all the experience I've gained through my TEFL the school has asked me to begin my teacher training in Drama and Performing Arts. I want to say thank you to all of the team at ITTP because without all of your ideas, guidance, support and experience I wouldn't be in the position I am in now.
I made the decision to get my TEFL certification after having completed a BA in Cultural Studies and a MA in International Politics. While earning my MA abroad in the Republic of Ireland I was able to immerse myself in Irish culture in a different way than I had in the semester abroad during my undergrad. My experience reignited my interest in living abroad. Because I was not ready to continue my studies to a PhD level I began to look into my other options that would allow me to stay abroad. TEFL became a natural choice. In my research of TEFL organizations I found a dizzying amount of options. Unfortunately the majority of the organizations that I found were expensive, time-consuming and faraway. While I loved the idea of traveling again, my finances and large student debt would not support a $3,000+ program. Luckily I was able to find ITTP. ITTP's online program seemed too good to be true. Not only could I work at my own pace, and complete the program from the comfort of my own home (while working during the day to earn some more money), I also wouldn't have to pay a huge amount of money. It was perfect for me. I completed ITTP's program after four weeks of structured and individually paced work. During my course I was able to work on my own schedule and complete lessons at anytime during the day. I also received constant feedback and always felt that I could get all of my questions answered quickly. Upon completing my TEFL certification I began to look into teaching positions abroad. I eventually settled on a position in Beijing, China. While in China I was teaching along side other teachers who had spent up to 5,000 GBP on CELTA certifications and some who had TEFL degrees. My ITTP qualification was completely adequate and I always felt that I had made a great choice in ITTP. During my teaching experience in China I was able to teach a variety of classes in both a public school and a private English school. I enjoyed my classes immensely, despite their large size (around 50 students in each) and inconsistent resources. I primarily taught elementary beginner 5-6 year olds and pre-intermediate 10-11 year olds. During my time in China I was able to learn more about Chinese culture and Chinese life than I ever could during a short holiday vacation. Shortly after finishing in China I accepted a position in Northern Poland. I have been teaching in Poland since the beginning of the year, and already I have had a very different and fulfilling experience. My English classes in Poland are primarily focused on Intermediate level adults, which has been a completely different challenge than teaching 50 kindergartners - but one that I have felt prepared to take on. My certification has shown to be well-worth the cost, as I once again am working along side 13+ CELTA certified teachers without a problem. While I am unsure where my experiences in TEFL will take me next, I am completely satisfied with my choices thus far. I couldn't be happier with my choice to get my certification with ITTP, and I hope you have the same wonderful experience. Good luck in your future TEFL career. Enjoy!
When making the transition to a new country, the first thing you want to feel is at home. This is exactly how I felt with ITTP. Before I even arrived to Prague, I had many questions and always received an immediate and thorough answer. During my time in the course, it was no different. The staff helped me settle into my new home and supported me throughout the course, giving me the confidence I needed to work hard and become a better teacher. I quickly found a job in Prague, teaching young learners at The Bead School. The material I learned in the course was necessary for me to succeed in teaching. I am currently back in the US, teaching as an ESOL Professor at the Community College of Baltimore County. Even a year and a half after taking the course, I still feel the same support from this team as I have graciously received a letter of recommendation for future teaching endeavors. My journey with ITTP has been positive, leading me to many new and exciting teaching experiences.
I already had a years experience teaching children so I thought that i Wouldnt really learn that much when coming to ITTP but I was proved very wrong. The teacher trainers have lots of experience and their teaching methods and ideologies were very refreshing and contemporary which i found very valuable, engrossing and useful in my post tefl/tesol teaching experience. it is quite intense but great fun. seriously. great fun and whenever u need them or want advice the trainers are always there for u at any time to answer queries or comment on your progress with constructive criticism. Im not kidding when i say that you will be impressed and on your toes as soon as the trainer walks in the door so be ready. If you like being on your toes then this is the school for you. It has been worth every penny. Im eternally grateful for my month at ITTP. My life has just kept getting better and better each day. Im still in Korea and loving it!
I recently changed schools and after 9 years of teaching French and Spanish to high school kids (young adults, really!) I am now an EFL teacher for 6 and 7 year olds in a Montessori school in Prague. Quite a change - and I needed training to teach my own language. Taking the course in July in order to be certified, I found myself returning to the grass roots of teaching. Even with 9 years experience, it was refreshing to be in the classroom as a student once again, and to be taught how to teach my native language by expert instructors. I regained confidence as a educator (after 3 years of doing more to do with bureaucracy and technology than teaching, working hard and never being appreciated) and was delighted with the positive and constructive feedback I got from fellow trainees and from the instructors. ITTP is very well organized and delivers on its promise; the instructors were not only scholars in their field (linguistics and teaching principles and methodology) but also amazing teachers. It was great to be there as a student and to be reminded of what it takes to be an effective teacher - even after so many years of my professional experience as a foreign language teacher. Most or all trainees got a job before the course was even completed and I am sure are embarking on their teaching career with confidence, as I am! I am delighted with the training I got and excited to have a qualification that allows me to work pretty much anywhere in the world.
I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to write this one, not only to praise ITTP Prague TEFL but also to spread the word about teaching English abroad as a foreign language. This is something which I had never even heard of until I met a guy in a bar in Perth and he told me about the possibility of traveling and teaching English. I have been teaching English now in Prague for the past 4 months and I am enjoying every single minute of my experience in this wonderful city of golden spires. There are many TEFL program options in the city but I was recommended to take the ITTP Prague TEFL one as it is considered one of the best and I signed up when they were running a really good course price deal. The trainers are extremely good at what they do and I must write that the training was top notch excellent. They also made us all feel really comfortable in class. Another positive was that the course covered more areas than just teaching English to groups of adults. We also all had our go at teaching the kids at the local Elementary school and I got the opportunity to teach at a couple of reputable high street banks (at first it was a bit nerve-wracking but I soon found my footing and Czech students are a pretty nice bunch overall). I stayed the month in the ITTP apartment close to the Prague Castle and I found it to be a really good deal and it was a well-represented apartment in a safe area. For short term accommodation options in the city I doubt you could do better really and the price was really good. The only negative I had about the program was connected with the student apartment and that was that there was no clothes dryer. Instead we had a metal clotheshorse to lay our clothes on to dry. It turns out though that electric dryers are not a common feature of Prague apartments and although the clotheshorse did its job I did miss the quickness of a dryer. Other facilities in the apartment though were excellent and the high speed internet was high speed and hugely welcome after the internet drought I had experienced at home prior to coming to Prague. All in all ITTP Prague TEFL was an excellent experience and I am now, as promised, teaching English in Prague. I'm giving the program the top marks of 5 out of 5.
