The Master of Product Design Labs teaches students to give shape to their ideas and define a product development project down to the last detail, considering both the possibilities and limitations of the industrial manufacturing processes.

It trains designers with entrepreneurial initiative, capable of maneuvering themselves in the real world. Starting with either their own project or given an external project, they manage the product industrialization process in its totality, succeeding in each project phase and collaborating with specialized professionals in a way that strengthens their research, conceptualization and communication skills.
The Masters asks students to think of a scenario or project they would like to explore more in-depth. Throughout the course of the program, they will be guided in the development, production and execution of their project, all the way to the final product.

Professional Opportunities
The main professional opportunities sought after completing the Master's are: Senior designer at a studio or design company; Senior designer at any company or professional studio interested in the development of projects, processes, services, strategies or lines of Communications; Design manager;Project manager; Product manager; Design consultant and Self-employed designer who produces their own ideas.

The methodology of the Master of Product Design Labs is practical and dynamic, concretized by the sum of experiences and training culminating in a personal thesis project. The program includes diverse educational activities, fomenting individual work as well as team work in conjunction with specialized professors trained by professionals with international experience in diverse areas related to the program. The program is structured in three phases:
1. Strategy and Design
2. Production
3. Execution and Feaisbility

* Trips: throughout the year, students visit cities, companies, industries, business centers, fairs, museums, institutions, workshops, showrooms, professional studios,etc. The students presence at major events assures them an important network of professional and academic contacts.

* Cultural Observatory: the Masters is based on atheoretical framework structured by a cycle of conferences and seminars: the Cultural Observatory.

* Potential Students: Designers from any specialty,architects and engineers with academic and professional experience, who want to specialize and materialize an idea into a specific product or project. We recommend that participants arrive at the Masters with a project in mind to develop, since the program gives them the ideal time and place to do it. This Master is a multidisciplinary and international program, on the frontier between design and production.

IED - Istituto Europeo di Design's Mission Statement

For over thirty years, the Istituto Europeo di Design has been operating in the fields of Education and Research in the disciplines of Design, Fashion and Visual Communication. Today it is an international network with Seats in Milan, Rome, Turin, Venice, Florence, Cagliari, Madrid, Barcelona and Sao Paolo and organizes three year courses that are alternative study pathways to those offered by traditional universities, together with refresher and permanent training courses, advanced courses and post-graduate Masters degree courses.
