  • Description

Our programs emphasize cultural exchange and foreign language immersion, complimented by field-based and hands-on experiences in the unique natural and social environment of the Galapagos Islands. You will see and understand the nature and character of these islands not as a visitor but as a resident. Our curriculum concentrates on the specific uniqueness of Isabela and the Galapagos Islands. In order to provide an effective Professor-Student ratio and in order to not culturally overload the community there is a cap of 15 students for each class.

    Topics for the Summer Program:

    Ecuador & Galapagos: Managing Mega-diversity; 3-6 credits (500 level), June 1 - June 15

Environment, Culture and the Music of Darwin - research, writing and environmental acoustics; 6 credits (300 - 500 level); June 17 - July 1

Interdisciplinary Global Health and Development; 3-6 credits (500 level), July 2012 (exact date tbd)

Though these are high level classes lower classmen students are encouraged to apply and will be allowed with permission of instructor.

  • Highlights

This is an extraordinary eco-cultural experience un-matched by other study abroad programs.

Courses are accredited through an academic affiliation with the University of Miami. Non-Miami students are also welcome to apply. Intersession courses are 2 weeks long and worth transferable 3 credits.

All our programs are small, competitive, highest academic standard and very personal. Furthermore, all our programs rely on a total cultural immersion concept offering Spanish learning and civic engagement opportunities.
