Ayusa Study Abroad: Explore China!

The Ayusa Summer Cultural Exploration program in Bejing is ideal for students who want to improve their Chinese and immerse yourself in Chinese culture with visits to the Great Wall and Tiananmen Square. Program finale in the dynamic city of Shanghai.

Of all the cities in Asia, few offer visitors the opportunity to see ancient and modern juxtaposed on such a grand scale as Beijing. Ayusa students will spend three full weeks in the political capital of China. During your time here you will see countless ancient wonders, such as the famed Great Wall, and modern marvels, including the Olympic Park, Bird's Nest, Water Cube and Olympic village. Deepen your exchange experience by making lifelong friends with local Chinese students who will join you on your program for 10 days in Beijing. Your final week on program will be spent touring some of China's breathtaking countryside and the ancient cities of Nanjing, Wuxi, Suzhou and Hangzhou. Spend your final three days in the dynamic urban metropolis of Shanghai.

Learn:

Intensive Chinese language and culture classes take place in the morning, Monday through Friday, for three hours per day. To ensure quality instruction, classes are taught by fully qualified Chinese instructors and the average student-to-teacher ratio is 10:1.

Exprience:

Two to three afternoons per week students participate in a variety of organized activities. Students will have the chance to explore Beijing through guided excursions to the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Beihai Park, the Water Cube, the Bird's Nest, Wangfujing Street and many more attractions. Afternoon cultural activities are hands-on and will include opportunities to learn Gongfu-Changquan, Taiji, Chinese paper cutting and table tennis. You'll even get to try your hand at making jiaozi, China's famous dumplings!

Program Requirements:

* No language requirement.
* 15-18 years old.
* Motivated students with a 2.5 GPA or higher on a 4 point scale.
* Flexible and mature personality; desire to be challenged, ability to remain open-minded and tolerant of cultural differences
* Eager for the academic challenge of studying in a foreign school.

Ayusa Study Abroad offers several High School scholarships with the support of our partners. We also encourage students to help pay for their Study Abroad program by fundraising a portion of their program fees. * Youth Writing Contest: This USD 500 award will be given based on an essay contest. Students will write a 500-750 word essay on one of several topics. * Global Citizen Scholarship: The purpose of this scholarship is to award USD 2000 to resourceful and mature students who are passionate about international exchange, bettering their community and self-growth.
