    Interstudy provides a wide range of semester and yearlong study abroad opportunities throughout Ireland. Our partnerships in the British Isles date to our founding in 1980 and place Interstudy among the most experienced providers of facilitated direct enrollment study abroad programs in the UK and Ireland. Students can enroll in a broad range of courses and actively participate in university life while enjoying Interstudy organized excursions and staying connected to in country staff.

    Limerick is a thriving modern city and Ireland's fourth largest after Dublin, Cork, and Galway. Limericks active music scene, which has produced popular bands like The Cranberries, caters for all tastes from Irish traditional music at Dolans to world-class DJs at Trinity Rooms. Limerick Milk Market is a hive of activity on the weekend with bargains galore, art, books, clothes, antiques, fresh food and even milk! If you are missing the tastes of home, be sure to visit the Wild Onion Cafe for pancakes or French toast with Vermont maple syrup. Limerick is ideal if you want to explore Ireland and beyond. Galway, Clare, Cork, Tipperary and Kerry are all close enough for a days excursion and Limerick is just 19 miles from Shannon International Airport.

    The University of Limerick, regarded as Ireland's most beautiful university campus, is three miles from the city center and sits astride the banks of the River Shannon. As the centerpiece of Ireland's National Technological Park, UL believes in combining academic excellence with relevance to economic, social and cultural needs. The University of is particularly well recognized for its reputation in European Studies, Irish Studies, Education, Engineering, Science, Equine Science, and Business.

    A significant advantage of Limerick University is that you may select and combine courses from all four Faculties of the university, thereby meeting your own personal major, minor, or general elective course requirements more easily. The Faculties are: Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Faculty of Education and Health Sciences; Faculty of Science and Engineering; and the Kemmy School of Business. UL is very popular with students of Humanities and Social Sciences; it is also an ideal destination for students of Engineering, Science, Information Technology, and Business.

    The campus center, known as The Stables, provides a range of services including a bookshop, bank, food store, bars and restaurants. The Student Union runs a large number of clubs and societies and a comprehensive program of entertainment. With its academic strength in sports science and extensive recreational sporting facilities, Limerick deserves its reputation as Ireland's Sporting Campus. Music and the arts are also well supported with drama groups, a choral society, dance groups and The National Irish Chamber Orchestra on campus. Regardless of which student village you live in, you will have your own private study bedroom, bathroom, and free high speed internet access.

  • Scholarships are Available

    Each semester, Interstudy awards two types of scholarships in a competitive process based on financial need and academic merit. Interstudy scholarships range from USD 500-1,000 and STA Travel scholarships are valued at USD 250 and require that you book your travel through STA Travel, in Cambridge, MA. All prospective students are eligible to apply for either or both scholarships. Applications are due by May 1st for the fall semester and by October 1st for the spring semester. An application form may be downloaded from the Interstudy website.
