Interstudy provides a wide range of semester and yearlong study abroad opportunities throughout Britain. Our partnerships in the British Isles date to our founding in 1980 and place Interstudy among the most experienced providers of facilitated direct enrollment study abroad programs in the UK and Ireland. Students can enroll in a broad range of courses and actively participate in university life while enjoying Interstudy organized excursions and staying connected to in country staff.

Named one of the world's top ten cities by Lonely Planet, Glasgow boasts one of the liveliest pub, club, and live music scenes outside of London. In an average week Glasgow hosts 123 bands, 72 classical composers, 49 choirs, 38 orchestras and 21 jazz bands. Renowned for discovering acts including Oasis, Franz Ferdinand and Primal Scream, the city has fantastic venues for live music. Celtic and Rangers have spread Glasgow's name around the football-loving world. Meanwhile, all levels of rugby enjoy a strong following, from the Glasgow Warriors to local club involvement. As one of Europe's premier destinations for adventure sports, Scotland provides top mountain biking, kayaking, sailing, rock climbing and hiking. And if that's not enough, Glasgow's international airports service direct flights to London, Brussels, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Paris, and beyond.

The University of Glasgow is the fourth oldest university in the UK and a member of the prestigious Russell Group of research universities, the UK equivalent of the US Ivy League. A truly Scottish university that draws over 73% of its students from all over Scotland, the University of Glasgow has a reputation for academic excellence and innovative research across a broad spectrum of subjects. In 2010 the International Student Barometer ranked Glasgow third in the UK for international student satisfaction.

As an Interstudy student at the University of Glasgow, you will have access to courses within all four Colleges: Arts; Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences; Science and Engineering; and Social Sciences. In addition, you may study in one of Glasgow's specialist partner institutions, the Glasgow School of Art or the National Piping Centre, or take specialty courses such as Functional Anatomy for Pre-Med/Pre Health Students, Service Learning, Nursing, Medical Humanities, and Veterinary Bioscience.

The legendary friendliness of the Glaswegians extends to the university campus where joining one or more of the over 100 student societies and 40 sports clubs will enhance your social life - if you haven't already managed to do that in the numerous pubs, bars, or cafes in one of the two (!) student unions on campus. You'll live in university accommodations in a single study bedroom furnished with bed, duvet, pillow and bed linen; desk, chair and lamp; wardrobe; chest of drawers; and set of shelves. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are typically shared.

Scholarships are Available

Each semester, Interstudy awards two types of scholarships in a competitive process based on financial need and academic merit. Interstudy scholarships range from USD 500-1,000 and STA Travel scholarships are valued at USD 250 and require that you book your travel through STA Travel, in Cambridge, MA. All prospective students are eligible to apply for either or both scholarships. Applications are due by May 1st for the fall semester and by October 1st for the spring semester.
