  • Description

Interstudy provides a wide range of semester and yearlong study abroad opportunities throughout Britain. Our partnerships in the British Isles date to our founding in 1980 and place Interstudy among the most experienced providers of facilitated direct enrollment study abroad programs in the UK and Ireland. Students can enroll in a broad range of courses and actively participate in university life while enjoying Interstudy organized excursions and staying connected to in country staff.

Swansea is famous for its beaches and offers miles of beautiful coastline. The city is also the gateway to the Gower Peninsular, the first place in the UK to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area attracts walkers, surfers, wind surfers, rock climbers, cavers, and hang-gliding enthusiasts. Swansea has a large and varied selection of pubs and clubs, with live music almost every night of the week. In the center of town, the Monkey Bar is known for its innovative hip-hop and guest DJ nights, and if you're into rock, The Office is the place to go on the weekends. The comprehensive local bus service allows you to travel all over the city, to the Gower, Cardiff and the surrounding areas. Swansea is easily accessible to all parts of the U.K., with London less than three hours away by train, and regular ferry service between Swansea and Cork, Ireland.

  • Highlights

As a student at Swansea University, you'll benefit from a modern approach to learning, backed by excellent facilities and high standards of teaching. Swansea is one of the six constituent institutions of the federal University of Wales and consistently ranks in the top 10 of the UK's Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey. The academic nature of the University is diversified, dominated neither by the Arts nor the Sciences.

Swansea has the advantage of being large enough to support a wide range of academic and social activity yet small enough to provide you with the sense of belonging and community often absent at larger institutions.

With a few exceptions due to exam schedules and over-enrollment, you will be able to select your modules (courses) from almost all Swansea University departments. Swansea has several highlights you may want to consider. One is the 3-credit pre-semester course, British Culture & Politics, held in your choice of London or Swansea. The other is the possibility of enrolling in a 3-credit internship. Placements are available in: Arts & History, Computing & IT, Education, Environment, Finance, Journalism, Law, Marketing, Media and Entertainment, Politics, Police Administration, Real Estate, Social Work, and Sports Therapy.

Swansea University has a strong campus-based student community, so there are always events and activities going on. Whether you like to play team sports, fancy yourself as a budding journalist or have a passionate interest in the arts, there is usually something organized on campus for you to try. The Students' Union supports over 80 societies, including the print and on-line student newspaper, Waterfront, and the campus radio station, Xtreme 963, both of which are run by teams of students. Numerous on-campus sporting facilities are available offering opportunities for casual participation, recreational classes, intra-mural and competitive sports. You will live in the Hendrefoelan Student Village in a self-catered flat or house with 4-8 single bedrooms and shared kitchen, dining, and bathroom facilities. Wireless internet is available in all University accommodation.

Testimonials

Compared to a lot of my friends I definitely had to put with less hassle - all because of you. In so many aspects you could not have done any better. I would be more than willing to talk to others ...
