As a pioneering provider of semester and yearlong study abroad opportunities in Southern Africa, Interstudy offers students the widest selection of facilitated direct enrollment options in the region. On summer programs students have the opportunity to study, volunteer, and explore South Africa while still enjoying Interstudy organized excursions and staying connected to in country staff.
Stellenbosch is a modern, bustling center for commerce, agriculture, and education with a distinctly pastoral character and historic heritage. Surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery, Stellenbosch is situated in the heart of South Africa's Cape Winelands region and is located only one hour to Cape Town by rail. If you're a nature lover, you'll enjoy the nearby hiking trails or even a walk in the Botanical Gardens in the town.
Founded in 1866, Stellenbosch University is recognized as one of the top universities in South Africa. Landmarks include the Ou Hoofgebou (Old Main Building), the subterranean JS Gericke Library, JS Marais Square, affectionately called Red Square, and the Langenhoven Student's Centre (Neelsie) which houses a shopping centre, the offices of the various student societies, and the University's community radio station, MFM 92.6. You'll be housed on campus in a double room in the Monica dormitory, which also features a cafeteria. Breakfast is included in the cost of your program.
A special feature of the Interstudy program is the week-long Stellenbosch University tour of South Africa's famous Garden Route which takes place at the conclusion of your program (Option 1 or 2). This stunning stretch of Western Cape coastline is rich in diverse natural beauty. Other excursions include day and weekend trips to Cape Town and surrounding areas such as Table Mountain, Cape Point, Robben Island, and Swellendam. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a one-day community service program in a nearby under-resourced community.
The summer program consists of lectures, group discussions, and field trips taught by Stellenbosch faculty and other South African experts. You may choose between two different options: Option 1 is a four-week program where you take three courses worth a total of six U.S. credits; Option 2 is a five-week, two course, service learning program worth a total of seven U.S. credits.

Compared to a lot of my friends I definitely had to put with less hassle - all because of you. In so many aspects you could not have done any better. I would be more than willing to talk to others ...
