Galway, located on Ireland's west coast, has a thriving arts and social scene, rich sporting culture and reputation as a laid-back festival town. During the academic year, about twenty percent of Galway's population is students; the result is a lively town where you will be assured of a warm welcome. The internationally acclaimed Druid Theatre Company and the Taibhdhearc, Ireland's only Irish-speaking theater, along with Galway's forty-odd seasonal street parties and traditional music sessions held regularly in pubs, make Galway an irresistible social center. Galway is a fantastic base for exploring the rugged beauty of the West Coast of Ireland and with excellent bus, plane, and train connections to Dublin, the rest of Europe is easily accessible.
The National University of Ireland, Galway is one of Ireland's leading international universities, attracting academics and students from around the world.
