Starting in July you will attend four weeks of classes at the University of Edinburgh Business School for Business in the Arts courses covering a wide range of topics. Courses will provide an overall background for roles you may take on during your internship. Professionals and experts working at the festival will be guest speakers.
Interns play a key role in facilitating the smooth running of productions during the festival. Placements are arranged to match with your goals.
Positions may include opportunities to be direct point of contact for a particular show within the company; analyze and improve scripts; report on and write reviews; research and conduct direct marketing; public relations; online marketing through social networking; media relations; observe rehearsals; participate in educational programs and networking events; work with the press to market shows; and participate in stage crew, event monitoring and control.
All internships are unpaid.

Internship Scotland offers a unique internship program for college students to learn about and work with a production company at the world-renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In July, The University of Edinburgh Business School will deliver a 4-week taught course entitled: Business in the Arts: An Introduction. This is mainly for students who are interested and/or currently study theater and the arts to learn more about the business aspect of the industry. On successful completion of the course, the student will gain 15 credits from the University of Edinburgh. In August, interns play a key role in facilitating the smooth running of their production during the Festival. Roles may include: reading, analyzing and improving scripts; reporting on and writing reviews; observing rehearsals; participating in educational programs and networking events; working with the press to market shows; and participating in event-monitoring and control and stage crew.
