  • Description

Volunteer abroad in Ghana! We offer programs in health care, community volunteer placements, internships in a wide variety of fields, teaching, homestay/cultural immersion programs, international volunteer work camps.

    Community Volunteer Placements
It is possible to provide volunteers with work placements in community projects, small-scale industries, public institutions and Non-governmental Organizations (NGO's) in Ghana. This program provides students with hands-on experience and helps them to see and understand Ghanaian life. There are opportunities in both rural and urban areas. Most often these participants are placed with a family who has some affiliation with the work placement. We have partnership arrangements with institutions in Ghana in a wide range of fields including: education, agriculture, construction, environment and disaster relief, water and sanitation, data collection/statistics, health and population, small-scale enterprise development, eco-tourism, health and environment, childcare, women in development, rehabilitation for physically and mentally handicapped, AIDS projects, office/computer, rural technology, food and nutrition, legal aid, banking and wildlife management.

    Internship Programs
Internship programs provide opportunities for both students and employees to further the students' career by volunteering their services and learning new methods while expanding their knowledge. We place participants with both private and public institutions and Non-governmental Organizations.

    Teach in Ghana Program
Our Teach in Ghana Program offers a specified number of suitably qualified applicants the opportunity to spend an academic year (September - August) teaching 12 - 18 year old in Secondary Schools or 18 - 30 year old in Vocational Schools in Ghana. The program was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The emphasis of Teach in Ghana is on teaching and becoming part of the community, in which participants live and work. The program is suitable only for those who can commit themselves one hundred percent to the challenge of living and working in a developing country for an entire year.

    Teaching Internship
Our Teaching Internship is designed to give university students the opportunity to develop their teaching skills in a structured setting. The student-teacher will have a teacher mentor and supervisor at the school where they are working. Student-teachers are also given an extra five day orientation specific to teaching in the Ghanaian school system.

    Homestay and Cultural Immersion Program
The Homestay and Cultural Immersion program is intended to promote language studies and intercultural exchange aimed at developing long term international relations and understanding. We organize homestays for groups and individuals who wish to learn a local language like Twi, Ga, and Ewe or learn and English while being totally immersed in the related culture. This program can be incorporated into other programs or university study programs as well.

All programs include an entire week of orientation in Accra: Sightseeing, history classes, cooking classes, even Ghanaian drumming!

  • Highlights

This program provides volunteers with hands-on experience and helps them to see and understand Ghanaian life. There are opportunities in both rural and urban areas. A series of visits and discussions for 6 days allows students to begin adjusting to life in Ghana. The orientation covers among others, culture, language, immigration/visa, health, money, transportation and food matters. Participants are then transferred to their final accommodation.
